When top college seniors go head to head in football at the Sun Bowl Stadium Feb. 2, there will be 10,000 soldiers and family members from Fort Bliss, Texas, in the stands.

The west Texas post on Monday received 10,000 tickets to the second annual “Texas Versus the Nation” football game, the Army announced in a press release. Western Refining donated the tickets.

“We are very proud to be able to donate the tickets to the men and women of Fort Bliss to attend the game,” Western Refining spokesman Gary W. Hanson said in the release. “It is just a small token of appreciation from our part to the many great things these men and women do in protecting our country and representing us around the world.”

During the game, a Bliss soldier will be allowed to call the 30th play of the game. If the soldier’s call can get the ball across the goal line, $10,000 will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Program, the release said.

Team Bliss will also have the opportunity to meet with cheerleaders from the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys. The time and place for that activity will be announced at a later date.
