Campbell soldier charged in stepson abuse

JAMESTOWN, Tenn. — A Fort Campbell soldier has been charged with aggravated child abuse in Fentress County. He’s accused of severely beating his 3-year-old stepson on Christmas.

Sheriff Chuck Cravens said Sgt. Alfred Gene Bullock, 21, was visiting his wife’s parents while on leave from the 101st Airborne Division.

The grandparents suspected Bullock was mistreating their grandson and hid a camcorder in the child’s bedroom.

“It didn’t show no pictures,” Cravens said. “They had it covered up. But the sound picked up and that’s what got him caught.”

According to court documents, when a deputy showed up at the house, Bullock told him “he had spanked his stepson with a belt and had gotten carried away and struck ... hard enough to leave marks.”
