20. I paid for the first one, and everyone after that
The cost of my fifteen second buzz-job was reflected on my first paycheck; $1.35, if my pea brain serves me correctly. The Barbour didn't touch my facial hair so I had to whack it off that evening by myself.

6. In the Navy, on ship they were free. Ashore, you pay for them.

At MCAS Miramar, a hair cut costs $6.50. They are the same at 32nd street Naval Station.

7. Back in the day you paid for them, but on base barbers were cheap.
It's not like there are a lot of styles to choose from or anything.

10. Your pay for them unless deployed or aboard ship
Very cheap by licensed civilians. Military in uniform get head of the line privileges.

11. Currently on Davis-Monthan AFB...
Mens haircuts are $8.50 for Active Duty/Dependants/Civilians. As should be expected, that covers a fairly limited range of military-reg. options. I'm pretty sure you can get more done for a higher price, but since I'm AD, and don't have any family, I wouldn't know specifics.

I have no idea what womens hair-trimiming costs.

12. Usually pay. Sometimes guys earn extra money on cruises doing it if there is no barber.
While on IOWA on the way to the Teheran Confereence, FDR had the ship's barber give him a hair cut.

17. Their free when your in bootcamp and on deployment.
Outside of that you have to pay for it. Of course later on when my hairline started to recede, I just shaved it off myself.

25. Yeah, not true
You pay for them in bootcamp/basic and you even pay for them on deployments (though in Iraq they're dirt cheap). I was a notoriously insane tipper on my last deployment. My haircut was so cheap I'd usually tip about ten bucks. I figured between what they charge in the US and their tip I'd keep paying the same. $13 means a lot more to them than me. And the fringe benefit I would get the insane royal treatment whenever I came in. A couple times I forgot to bring cash and he refused to let me go to the ATM or even pay him back.

19. Depends
Goin tot he barber shop yeah it costs, but I was never in a
unit that did'nt have atleast one guy that could cut hair,
just work out an arrangement with him/her. Barter system type
of thing. Or there is always the ever stylish shaved head
option.

23. A technical point
When I was a commander, we had a barber's kit on the hand receipt. It was supposed to be for deployments. I suppose you could get a free haircut from the supply sergeant or first sergeant or would you rather just pay $5 or $6 and get it at the PX?
