Thoughts on Notre Dame and Arizona State?
Smacks of plain old racism IMO.

For Notre Dame- does an anti-choice stance trump their stance on the death penalty? Bush made sure a bunch of people in Texas died.

Arizona State, he hasn't done enough in life for a fake honorary degree? They cannot be serious.

Why did they even invite him to speak?

Ridiculous! and it ticks me off.

:grr:

1. I would LOVE to see President Obama deliver the commencement speech
at an HBCU - any HBCU. He would definitely be appreciated there as he should anywhere.

(Oh, and as reported on Hardball tonight, the pres. of ASU is reevaluating his decision. In retrospect, he is thinking perhaps the president is deserving of an honorary degree). :eyes:

3. I know that he has an honorary degree from Howard. I'm sure that they'd love to have
him speak there again. It'd be a 20-minute trip from the White House too! :)

2. Well, my understanding is that Arizone State have never given an honorary degree
to a sitting politician, so at least they are being consistent.

But you would think that having the first black President speak at their commencement would result in them bending those stupid rules just a little bit...

There are some very angry alums over the incident. Who'd've thought?
