Just keep asking yourself: DO I REALLY NEED THIS?
Remember the "Give a hoot. Don't Pollute." signs on interstates and on trash cans? Remember all the PSAs about it? Remember how trashy the interstates used to look in the 1970s? See all the adopt-a-highway signs?

No ONE person is doing a Hurculanean effort. It is everyone with their drop in the bucket contributions that are adding up.

So....what do we need to do? We need to remember when we are browsing online to reconsider before we hit "submit" on some purchase. We need to remember while at the department store or mall to reconsider each purchase and possibly say "What the heck am I doing? I don't need another sweater or magazine. I'm just trying to fill the void with a consumer good. What do I REALLLY want?"

The more we can be in the habit of doing so and encouraging others to do so...the more we will make a difference. We need to slow down this economy. For many reasons. But as we build the habit...we can the coalesce our efforts around targeting the BIG MEDIA outlets who just aren't listening to what the people say. BUT WE WILL MAKE THEM HEAR US.

it's all about each thread interweaving to make the whole garment.

1. I have a policy of enforcing a "cooling off period"
before buying anything new for myself (at least 24 hours). I also go into the store with a list, get the stuff on the list, and then get out!

2. Thanks for the encouragement.
I finished college in the 1980's and started working when the "I gotta have it now" crowd was spreading their influence. I have to be disciplined and encouragement like this helps. I love the idea of a 24 hour cooling off period also.
