Debunking 9/11 Myths : Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up to the Facts (Paperback)

The first conspiracy theories about September 11 began to emerge while the wreckage was still smoldering. Today, nearly five years later, hundreds of books and thousands of Web pages are devoted to the idea that the U.S. government encouraged, permitted, or actually carried out the attacks. These theories claim to be based on hard evidence. But an in-depth investigation by POPULAR MECHANICS—first published in the magazine’s March 2005 issue, and now greatly expanded into book form—definitively proves that the evidence most often cited by conspiracy theorists is inaccurate, misinterpreted, or false.

I bet the review section when this book comes out will be a hoot!

1. Hah! It's put out by Popular Mechanics!
The article they love to hate has a new life in book form.

The conspiroids are already frothing at the mouth in the comments section:

That John McCain took the time to write the foreward for this book. It shows just how complicit he is in the coverup of the worst crime in American History.

I can't wait to read about Sibel Edmonds in this book, as well as Norman Mineta's omitted testimony, as well as how the Bush Administration did not want to investigate 9/11, as well as the multitude of warnings that was received, as well as the thermite that Professor Jones found on a piece of steel from the WTC.

2. John McCain?
I don't think his presence helps.
Carlin or Chomsky would have been worlds better, but they both have better things to do I'm sure. ;)

4. Yeah, I take their use of McCain to mean their audience isn't CTers
But then, who is the intended audience? :)

Oh well, I'm still glad it exists.

7. I like to use bookfinder.com
Which searches a number of the major book databases and then presents the bookseller, the store they're selling through (like abe.com), description and condition plus prices. It's really an invaluable service, especially when Amazon wants $65 for a crappy copy of a book went out of print in 1960 and you can find a very good copy through bookfinder.com for a quarter of the price. Plus you're supporting independent book sellers.

On the other hand I've been known to use Amazon at times, and they function as a great reference system. In particular I like their wishlist feature which I use to track books I want. On the other hand, I know there's something akin to del.icio.us for books out there, but I don't know the name of the site. That strikes me as even better than Amazon's features.
