10. No MJ anti-vax stories
But both Deepak Chopra and Uri Geller claimed they were close, personal friends and advised him often. Which kinda explains a lot if you ask me.

11. I just read that Chopra had been "deeply concerned"
Well, that's marvelous.

And Uri Gellar has the distinction of being the only fraud totally debunked more times than The Shroud, yet he still rakes in the green.

17. He apparently wasn't deeply concerned enough
To report Jackson's doctor to the state medical board. Guess that would have been bad kharma or a disruption of his quantum field balance...

Deepak Chopra says he had drug concerns about Michael Jackson since 2005
By GILLIAN FLACCUS , Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - Spiritual teacher and medical doctor Deepak Chopra says he has been concerned since 2005 that Michael Jackson was abusing prescription painkillers and most recently spoke to the pop star about suspected drug use six months ago.

Chopra says Jackson, a longtime friend, asked him for painkillers in 2005 when the pop star was staying with him following his trial on sex abuse allegations.

Chopra says he refused but said the nanny of Jackson's children repeatedly contacted him with concerns about Jackson's drug use over the next four years.

So along with Deepak's other accomplishments, now we can add the modifier "pathetic fame-whore."

Oh, most of us already did that. Never mind...

19. Although to be fair
To Chopra as an MD, he's far from alone in being negligent about reporting other doctor's professional misconduct. Not that this really excuses it, but very few doctors in his position would have done differently.

9. Did you see this?
COLOMBO (AFP) — Sri Lankan police say they have arrested an astrologer after he predicted serious political and economic problems for the government of President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Chandrasiri Bandara, who writes an astrology column for a pro-opposition weekly, was taken in on Thursday, police spokesman Ranjith Gunasekara said.

"The CID (Criminal Investigations Department) is questioning the astrologer," Gunasekara said Friday, adding that they wanted to find out the "basis" for the prediction.

The astrologer had predicted that a planetary change on October 8 will be inauspicious for parliament and the government may not be able to arrest rising living costs -- a prediction already made by private economists.

The report goes on to say that most Sri Lankan politicians take this stuff seriously enough to have their own personal fortune tellers.

First they came for the astrologers,
And I didn't speak up, because I'm a Virgo, and we're reticent and shy...

good thing our government isn't run by people who take that kind of stuff seriously, but then realized most of them believe in the sky daddy.

Since I'm an ardent solipsist, I don't need to go in for whole "clique" thing anyway...

Had my windows open on Saturday because of the heat, but had to close them when ice started coming in. I did not find this amusing.
