1. FWIW, for the last week or two, I've been feeling a *lot* of light

around JE. Although he may have a while to go before he is in the White House, I feel that he will be President someday. (Also for the record, I feel it's a good thing that he have some time to recoup before his next bid for office, because I just don't think he is ready quite yet.)

10. Perhaps I was seeing a future reality
when I saw the "Edwards wins S.C." on the reader at the bottom of my tv screen.

Didn't Edwards win SC in 2004?

3. It saddens me too
I supported him but knew he would not be the candidate. I hoped he was going to continue, just to push the other two remaining candidates to more progressive positions.

7. As unrealistic as it seems...
I'm going to visualize Al Gore jumping into the race, winning the primary, and winning the election. I need something to give me hope!

22. That's not unrealistic at all, I Have!
Despite how hard some folks on this site are still working to try to wear us down into believing the next president is going to be Obama or Clinton or McCain, I'm still quite certain it's not going to be any of those people.

It is not too late (at all). Manifest the candidate you want.

30. I like that.
Thanks for the encouragement. I had (have) been hoping for Gore to come in at a brokered convention and unite the party and win the election (again). It's not over yet. And I have a strong feeling that Edwards will continue to play a role in the next administration.

8. hopes dashed
I've had a strong conviction that Edwards would be our president. Maybe after Hillary or Obama have their run. If a candidate can't get through to voters with a message like Edwards', then what does this country want? I just don't understand it--he has the record, he has the charisma, he has the message.

There is so much disappointment in politics. Al Gore's being cheated out of the presidency was horrible. Now this.

I so wanted Elizabeth to be a part of our public world, too. She is such a REAL PERSON.

I almost feel like burying my head in the sand (won't happen). But I can see why people do it. It's a painful business, hoping and caring about one's country.

9. so who will be the president?
FWIW, I was listening to the Jan 28th show from Coast to Coast where George Noury interviewed John Hogue, who specializes in prophecy. Hogue says he sees a confluence of three people as we get toward election day. The three people are Hillary, Obama, and Bloomberg.

He thinks it might be too early for an Obama presidency. He talked about the comparison between Obama and Kennedy and says his "oracle" says that Obama is the Kennedy of 1956--he might be a disaster of a president if he gets that post too early.

He mused over the possibility that it could be a Hillary/Obama team. GN brought up the animosity but Hogue rushed to say that they would get over it. With this as the team, Bloomberg might enter the field as an independent run and make a very strong showing. He won't win but he will set a standard for a third party. We've already seen Bloomberg set the groundwork but it seems too late to me to consider him doing anything like that. Nevertheless, this is what Hogue says.

16. I think it would be a misuse of his talents
Feel free to disagree with me but I think his talents/assets would be better used as AG. A Supreme Court justice really needs to be someone with a more academic bent, with an interest in legal theories. I see John Edwards as more of a doer with a great deal of passion and energy to remedy current ills.

15. I share your sorrow
but let's try to think positively:

Visualize our John being sworn in as the new Attorney General, ready to prosecute the bejeebers out of every possible member of the BushCheney Misadministration.

I think a lot of really ugly stuff would come to light, and maybe some of the perps would see some jail time.

I love that man. I will work for him no matter where he goes, no matter what he does. John and Elizabeth are incredible people, their light shines bright. There is no doubt a reason for this decision and we need to wait to hear from him.

18. Oh, I am SO with you, NJCher
This news really trashed my day. :( I was hoping he'd stick it out till Super Tuesday so he could see how many people really would vote for him--and I wanted to vote for him!!

My first thought: "Crap. NOW who do I vote for?" Second thought: He was "urged" out by the party--you know, "You're being divisive. You're pulling just enough votes away to confuse the Clinton/Obama numbers. Be a good sport and drop out now." Blah blah blah.

I hate politics. x(

21. I think I just lost all enthusiasm
for politics and the upcoming election. There is nothing about Obama or Hillary that makes me want to vote for either of them. Edwards will still be on my primary ballot. It will require some effort for me not to vote for him. Given the Obama/Hillary choice I will vote for Hillary - and I will try not to retch in the process. I think McCain will be the Republican nominee and based on the most recent polls (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/national.html) he will defeat both Obama and Hillary. Hillary is at least somewhat predictable.

Yeah. I'll cry with you.

32. Please don't switch
Vote for John Edwards in your primary, even if you have to write him in. Be true to yourself. Also, it's important to send a message to the media that they can't dictate our president. The more votes he gets, the more likely that he could be nominated on the 2nd or 3rd ballot at a brokered convention. Please! Give him your vote. Thanks. This isn't over... besides, mercury is retrograde!

Note: There's a movement over at http://johnedwards.com for just that. Stand up for John and he'll stand up for us!

All my tears have been shed. (wow, writing that gave me a deja vu related to a dream I had, which I can't fully remember)

I have cried so many tears, I feel numb about the whole thing.
I haven't watched any of the debates (just snips) and cannot even watch campaign "news".

But, bless you all who are hurting.

I can get a little bit excited about a possible Obama win. Hillary still scares me. But if we have to walk down that highway to hell, we will endure. The situation may be that just as Pelosi has gotten weak knees and blames Congress, I can envision the Houses thwarting every move HC attempts.

I've been crying off and on all day, unsubscribing from poliical lists, and feel like I've been hit in the gut. I can't work, either, and I'm swamped.

I have lost all hope for the future of this country and the world.

29. I didn't get anything done either
Just felt bad. All day.

Oh well, better to get it out now that hide the feelings and act out in some angry, sick way later--like many a republican would.

My heart goes out to JE and his family. It has to be a tough time for them. They worked so hard and put so much into this.

Good night to all my soul sisters. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now. :(

He was the one who (to me) had the "clearest" energy of all the candidates. Farts. That's all I can say.

(What a day for me to be off-line at a new job. I totally didn't see this coming at all.)

FEH.
