Manifestation group check in--March...! Acting as if...
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 10:20 PM by bliss_eternal
To kick off our March manifestation thread, I thought I would talk about the concept of Acting as If.

I've noticed several of us are struggling a bit with our manifestation process. Perhaps we know EXACTLY what we want, but we feel we are "stuck" in our current reality. The responsibilities of our current life seem to keep us from discovering and manifesting a new one. Maybe we are just overwhelmed with everything as it is right now. It all seems completely insurmountable and we just can't see how we're ever going to reach the place we dream of...the new job, car, lover, boyfriend, mate, cash, career, business opportunity, success, etc.

Maybe we should "act as if."

Acting as if is a way of to practice the positive. It's a positive form of pretending. It's a tool that can be used to get ourselves unstuck. It's a tool we can make a conscious decision to use. We act as if the problem is already solved, that we already are that which we want to be. :bounce:

Consider for a moment:
If you had already achieved your dream how would you act? What kind of clothes would you wear? How would you treat others? How would you spend your free time? Would you act more confident? Would you spend more time with the one's you love?

Do some (or all) of these things now. This is acting as if. Acting as if you already are who you want to be and you have everything you want.

Now, no one is saying go out on a shopping spree, when you don't have any money in the bank. ;) We don't pretend to have things we don't have and create more problems for ourselves. We use acting as if to set the stage for our new behaviors. You can take a symbol of future success and use it to help you realize that reality.

For example, if I wanted a new car I'd do some (or all) of the following:
1. I would go out car shopping.
2. I'd sit in cars that I like, go on test drives.
3. I'd have dh take a picture of me in the car I want and place it somewhere that I can see it everyday or on a visioning board.
4. Perhaps I'd go out and purchase some items for my new car (emergency kit for the trunk, air freshener, an anti theft device or car club for the steering wheel, etc.)

In other words, I'd act like I KNOW I'm getting a new car, asap.:toast:

Acting as if is a positive way to overcome fears, doubts, and low self esteem. We do not have to lie or be dishonest with ourselves. We open ourselves up to positive future possibilities, instead of limiting the future by today's feelings and circumstances.

So for March, what ways can you "Act as if" you already are, the person you want to be?

3. I have been acting as if I am not fearful
I think my biggest roadblock to manifesting my wonderful life is my fear of succeeding. I have internalized a lot of negativity regarding success and failure and self-worthiness.

Acting as if I am not fearful is my current path for walking through the fear to hope and manifestation.

And I manifested my first sale in my new business today!

Went to Trader Joe's today to do some of my shopping. Got to the checkout counter and they were giving away flowers. So I now have I cute bouquet of red tulips in a vase in my "office space".

Am I crazy?

10. I'm acting as if my boyfriend is great with money
and that he always makes healthy choices in his lifestyle.

I don't even want to write that indeed, I obsess over his money problems and his addictions. This is my current major obstacle. He too has seen and is working the law of attraction and it works really well for him in other areas. We just have to get the money and smoking/drinking thing under control! Well, he does, that is.

14. Interesting you mention this...
I was just reading in the Secret, that instead of focusing on what we "dislike" in our mates, we should be thankful for that which we love in them.

The general pattern in relationships is to complain about what the other person is not, what they don't do, what we hate and wish they'd stop doing. :banghead:Because of this, we usually get much more of the very thing we dislike and complain about.

Try meditating on all the things you appreciate in the other person--what you love, what you find attractive and irresistible about them. The Secret says when focus on acknowledging their strengths, that's what we'll get more of. Supposedly when we do this problems will then fade away.

:)

15. YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!
When I first read your post I thought, "I do that anyway...I just have to stop thinking about the other stuff."

But of course reality stuck when I got home last night. It was a very hard night for us but you were right. I was concentrating on all the things he does that are negatives to me.

I will concentrate on the postive and be grateful. He really is a wonderful man...my soulmate. What he is going through now is in fact because of "the secret" and what he is manifesting. He is almost manic in that he is having a huge burst of creativity - he is a singer/songwriter. But this mania is what is causing some tension.

But from now on I am only GRATEFUL for his creativity and his energy and enthusiasm.

thanks Bliss!!!

16. In fact- here are some lyrics he wrote last night:
"Sometimes your joy just breaks the veneer of it all
Sometimes your joy, it just enlists.
...And when your joy breaks through the veneer of it all,
That's where you'll find your bliss.
That's when you find your bliss.

It clings close to the ribs, yeah
Put your finger to your lips (Don't tell anyone!).

This is the stuff that you can't miss any more...
Just where your joy breaks through the veneer of it all,
That's where you'll find your bliss."

You must be so proud of him--he sounds talented!

The Secret had this exercise, I used it and pull it out when I'm having "negativity moments."
Make a list of all the aspects of him you love and appreciate--everything about him that
makes you smile. If you have a tough time, pull it out and review it just to remind
yourself. ;)

none at all, so I need his air to balance me out. It's very tough going but we are working it out very well.

He is extremely nurturing, sensitive and sentimental - his Cancer rising really shows. And he has the most amazing way with words, so all those feelings come forth to me eloquently - and often, of course!

I've been a member of DU for quite some time, and I never knew about this forum, let alone these fabulous manifestation threads!! I'm on this path, too, via The Secret, my newly purchased Abraham-Hicks book (still feeling that one out), and my longtime familiarity/membership in the Unity Church here. (I just finished my Chaplain training, matter of fact - I'll be confirmed as a Chaplain next Sunday! The thing I love about that is, I can still be my irreverent-liberal-witch self, and it's all OK with Unity!)

You've made my day with this - I'm glad to know you're here, and I'll be around! ;)

Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 06:24 PM by Beaverhausen
at the Weight Watchers meeting.

not 6, POINT 6. As in under 1 lb. But it is a loss, so I'm happy.

I told the group that I used phrases to tell myself "I'm making healthy choices" and "I am easily thin" instead of obsessing about food itself. I quickly mentioned "The Secret," a couple of women nodded thier heads, and I spent a few minutes explaining the concepts to another one after the main meeting.

I am also wearing a shirt that I haven't been able to put on -and button all the way down the front- in a couple of years! :woohoo:

37. Several little items from a newbie
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 10:08 AM by patsified
First of all, I am so grateful to have found this forum. I am learning so much from each of you.:)

My home business is BOOMING and it really is almost effortless. It's manifesting success every single day in ways that I won't go into here.

I wanted to lose 10 pounds, I've dropped 6, and the only big thing I've done is cut back on soda pop and minimized my snacking as much as I can (but not entirely). When the weather warms up, I'm going to be out exercising more, so I know that success is going to continue.

But here is something I swear I manifested unconsciously. As a gal who grew up in the flattest part of Texas (and now lives in the flat part of Michigan), I fell in love with the mountains when I first went to Colorado in 1996. "Rocky Mountain High" has been a favorite song of mine since it first came out decades ago (John Denver went to my high school). I haven't been able to get back to Colorado, due to time and finances. But it's calling out to me -- last summer, our best friends moved out there and want us to come for a visit, and just this past Christmas, a DUer was having trouble and I decided to send her a goody box. Naturally, turns out she lives in Colorado, LOL! So the past several weeks, I've been playing "Rocky Mountain High" quite a bit because it's a song that makes me happy, and I told our little boy that we're going to take him to Colorado in the summer of 2008 to see the mountains (he's never seen mountains). Imagine my delight to find out yesterday that the state of Colorado has decided to make "Rocky Mountain High" its second official state song. I know that my energy and passion for the mountains helped to make that happen, I just do! I played the song all week, for cryin' out loud. They played it in the grocery store just last Saturday! I didn't even know it was up for a vote; had you asked me, I would have assumed that it already WAS the state song. So that was a joyous, unexpected little nudge-joke from the universe.:D

Here's to a wonderful week for each of you!

I haven't gotten it out of my head since yesterday's news, LOL! My favorite lyric: "I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly." Oh, boy, that gives me goosebumps every time. I love to hike, but hiking around the woods of Ann Arbor just doesn't cut it, ya know??

One trick I've learned: treat each tiny success like it's huge, celebrate it, and I swear it "infects" everything around you and creates truly BIG successes. Don't you think?

40. You may already be aware of this, but it's really helpful to keep...
what's called a Success Journal where you write down everything that you manifest, no matter how small it is. By keeping track of it, you gain confidence in your ability to manifest so manifesting larger things becomes easier.

Sounds like your celebration of the smallest success is equally valuable.

By the way, I hadn't heard of Colorado's state song change. I also love that song; good job, Colorado!

41. Great idea
I think that the smaller successes should be used as a springboard to give us courage to go for bigger goals. Kitchen Witch mentioned upthread that she's working at overcoming her fear to make her new business grow, and I'm *completely* in the same boat. But each time I've done something brave (brave for me) I've never been disappointed in the results! I have been so risk-averse all of my life, and with each little success, the fear is falling away quickly.

Finding this forum at DU has been such a gift to me. The positivity here buoys me up, even though I am mostly a lurker!

OH, and for the record: Colorado hasn't changed its original old state song (whatever it is), they've just decided that this John Denver song needs to be its official SECOND state song. It's an addition, not a replacement, just to clarify. But oh, so cool. Even the music in our heads and hearts can make things happen, LOL! Everything really IS energy.

:silly:

I have been dying for Indian food the past couple of weeks. I was going to suggest to a certain friend that we should see if there are any inexpensive Indian buffets on a certain day this week - we're supposed to go out to see some (cheap student) theatre (the program is an excellent one, and put on very good productions).

Even before I mentioned it, she asked if I was going to a certain benefit dinner this Saturday. I said no (she knows I can't afford it), and offered to pay for me to go with her! The kicker - it's at one of the best Indian restaurants. :bounce:

I told her and she laughed. She's learning manifestation, too.

Thank you for the tips, bliss_eternal! :)

I'm still a newbie to all of this. I did manifest a lot last fall, when I moved. I needed help moving, plus some furniture, and got them. But I didn't feel it was conscious (and maybe it isn't supposed to be) - and so I'm going to try and manifest what I need consciously.

45. I'm reading the book
Ask and its Given - Learning to manifest your desires by Esther and Jerry Hicks

me likey :)

" With your practical attention to any subject, the Law of Attraction delivers circumstances, conditions, experiences, other people, and all manner of things that match your habitual dominant vibration. As as things begin to manifest around you that match the thoughts you have been holding, you now develop stronger and stronger vibrational habits or proclivities. And so, your once small and insignificant thought has now evolved into a powerful belief - and your powerful beliefs will always be played out in your experience"

49. Acting "as if"
"As if" I am going in for a very important job interview in a few weeks, I am...

...keeping my hair neat, and I hennaed it this weekend for shine. I am taking my vitamins, silly but true. I am trying to keep my nails groomed. I am weeding my wardrobe and acting as if I will be getting new clothing soon. When I think about future activity, I keep in mind that I may have a career shift in the next 2-3 months. I am purging and sorting old stacks of papers at the office that have been not touched for - literally - 30 years. I am organizing my job how-to notebook for the person that will follow me. I am attending to deadlines, and making sure I don't have any weird loose-ends lying about.

No, I don't have an interview. But I am acting as if it's coming, and that the job will be given.

50. You are there woman.
Convinced me.

Tell me, does henna hide grey? I have been bouncing around with my hair. Sometimes natch grey . sometimes Ms Clairol.

You are looking good from over here.

Tell me your henna secrets. ;)

51. I'm no expert, but I noodle with it.
I don't have very much grey - it comes and goes, strangely enough. But the grey I do have seems to have handled the henna well. I've always used the Light Mountain prepackaged henna mix, in Light Red. I buy it at Sun Harvest, and I bet Whole Paycheck has it too.

A few years ago, I went through a phase of hennaing every 4-6 weeks. My hair was brilliantly shiny as a result.

I've learned a lot about henna from this website, www.hennaforhair.com. Reading some of the how-tos and recipes there make me want to buy the "real" henna, instead of the prepackaged mix. But the mix is easier to get to - seize the day, you know.

I hennaed on Friday night - for the first time in three years. My hair is much longer now, and I was worried about 1) the mess, and 2) rinsing it from my hair. I mixed the entire package with 12-16 oz. of very hot boiling water in a pyrex measuring cup. I stired it with a rubber spatula, breaking up all the clumps of goo, and I left it alone to cool while I gave my son his bath and put him to bed. After I got up the nerve, I mess-proofed the bathroom, and glopped it on. I wrapped my head in a plastic shopping bag, then surfed the net for 1.5 hours. I rinsed it out with warm water and baking soda in our utility room sink, and then showered and rinsed my hair again with a lot of conditioner in order to detangle and get the remaining plant bits out (no shampoo).

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It was a little oranger than I wanted on Saturday and Sunday, but by Monday the color became richer and a little redder - and now my hair is a very natural strawberry, instead of dark blonde/light brown. Nobody has said anything about my hair looking any Different, which is a big relief to me - it's very subtle.

I like it. :)

52. Yee gads.. an hour and a half?
20 minutes in the old bathrobe. And don't get it in your eyes.

I'll have to check out that site. One of my sisters used henna for years and was always red.
I don't look good in red. I need an ash brown. Well, other people think the red glow is good .. I don't like it. What to do.

I had no idea that the application was so complex.

I went grey early, at 30, and just had some whisps at the sides. Most new stylists, and even some rude aquaintencnes, said why don't you color. But after a few cuts, the stylists could see that that little whisp was okay. Even when I use boxed color, there are golden highlights around my face. One of my friends asked me if we color her hair can she get those. I don't think so unless there is MASSIVE grey streaks. When I went natch 2.5 years ago, I got compliments. But when it totally grows out, it is DULL. Boring. Mouse.

But. You are lookin spiffy. And I feel your pulse. You are good to go! Feeling good about ourselves and taking proactive steps . wow.

I'm going natural for now. I started coloring 13 years ago, and gave it a break about 3 years ago. It was only after I moved to Austin and got a bf 12 years my younger, even though he says he didn't care about my hair, that I recolored.

The shiny is what I miss most. Doesn't henna come in a clear shine?

53. You can do all kinds of color effects with henna. It's amazing
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 12:43 PM by Dora
Check the link in my prev post. There are some awesome before/after pictures that people sent in after they tried the henna. Some of them left their henna in all night!

*on edit: Yes, there's a plant product that's *like* henna that will gloss up your hair without adding color, but it's not henna. True henna leaves color behind. I think the non-coloring stuff is called Cassia.

Yeah, that's a lot of time to spend with a bagged head of goop. I think my hair is boring too. I used to love L'Oreal ColorSpa - mix it up, rub it in, rinse it out - and even though it was a semi-permanent color, I gave it up because it was lifting too much of my own color. I don't like maintenance, I'm all about low-maintenance. I guess that's why I've waited so long to henna again. But after doing this and having it work out so well, I'll try it again in a few weeks to boost the shine level. I'll try to multitask by doing something productive at the same time - like our taxes.

Thanks for the confidence. I feel it too, bone-deep. I've felt like this before, but I had never heard about LOA and manifestation, and my life was just one wish-come-true after another: a return to college to finish my BA, a writing prize with cash, a semester back East, a sense of avocation, a forever-love relationship, an emergency appendectomy without insurance resulted in a $200 refund six months later, graduate school with a fellowship, and a job after graduation in my career field (a path envisioned five years earlier, mind you), and marriage. And as I catalogue these successes here I am boggled at how my life was bursting with synchronicity and abundance during those years. But when I consider my mindset at the time, I never at any point thought any other outcome was possible.

And then it stopped. Looking back, I can see that my outlook and thinking had changed as a result of not dealing with grief and disappointment (my beloved stepdad died suddenly, and my job was not what I expected it to be). I became stuck in resentment and bitterness, and each step "out" seemed to make me even more stuck. I quit my job. A beloved cat was killed by dogs outside my bedroom window as I was sleeping. We were burglarized and my computer (with all of my writing on it) was stolen. I felt like my identity had been completely stripped away, and I had no idea of who I was, or of what I was "supposed" to be doing. I finally returned to the job I had left two years earlier, and I've been wrestling my issues with renewed vigor ever since.

This last couple of years (months, even) has been interesting, in turning my mind around, accepting disappointments, and seeing windows open when doors close. And they're opening, maybe not at the pace that I would wish, but they're there all the same. Some things take more time than others, and I have to remember to wait in patience.

Oh, I go on and on. Stop me!

54. I'm not the one to stop you.
You have been there, and seen the difference. Very good points.

I think I have to wait until this ms Clairol grows off. My hair grows fast. I like to keep it shortish, a wavy bob.

You are so much like me. I have an old pair of glasses I wear when I'm waiting 20 mins so I can read.

Cannot stand to waste time.

Life does have a way of dealing us stuff. I was just on the phone with my ex-h of 27 years, my son's dad. Most times we have a congenial meeting. This time, no. It doesn't really matter.

I want henna, when my hair grows out a bit. Never tried it. It's about time. I just don't want Red. I'm not a redhead. I used to be olive complexion from my dad's side. Now I'm kind of pale. Porcelein is the powder. I'm white! With a bit of a golden hue. They make you think about this stuff. I have never had a good complexion. I envy those with natural color.

But I know this. I will go henna next time. If I dare.

55. Hey, when the henna time comes, I'll give you a hand if you want.
PM me someday if you want a hand with the henna, or even just encouragement over the phone: we're both in Austin! Nothing like sharing green goop between like-minded people.

And to hijack this thread even MORE... it's definitely cassia that will condition and shine your hair without coloring it. We might find it locally at a middle-eastern grocer. I don't want to go any redder than I am. Cassia may be it for me.

58. When you mentioned Sun Harvest, I had to check your profile
and found you local Austin (so cool). I shopped Whole Foods in Dallas for decades. But I like Sun Harvest a little better. Smaller. Easier. The one on South Lamar is my favorite, but I'm just a few miles from the one on Anderson. It would be lovely to meet DUer here in town. I did go to Keep Austin Blue last summer. But they meet at Mother Egan's and I do best when I attend non-drinking socials. Whatever do you do around here? Have you tried any of the LOA meetups or any ohters? It's a small world. A guy I've met at some of the meetups has created a new one, meeting at Mozart's tonight. I may make it. I love that part of the lake.

So from what Dream writes, orange? I had a dream the other night of hanging with people who had pink and purples braids. Orange would not work for me. I have to do the henna scene at least once, though.

Let's do be in touch! Everyone in Austin seems to be at least a tad liberal. Not counting Perry, of course. That's why I moved here. Needed to breathe free.

56. vsm, I think that you asked whether henna covers gray.
I had a French woman work for me about 15 years ago. She used henna on her hair. She was lamenting the fact that she'd soon have to stop using it because she said that once the hair goes gray, it turns orange when you use henna on it. She had been using henna for a long time, so I'd assume that she knew what she was talking about. I've never used it myself. She was really upset that she'd have to stop using it because she loved it.

62. "Do it to your own Yuma!" LOL LOL LOL, But True!
Okay - the Yuma bit really gives me the giggles because I'm an Arizona desert rat.

But it's true. I've had to do it to my Yuma, with my job. In the last 3-4 months, I've put a lot of effort into consciously changing the way I see my current job and the experiences I'm gaining here. I've learned to appreciate all the good that my job has brought to my life (a steady income, health benefits, a network of professional colleagues), rather than resenting all the ___ that I could resent about it.

It works. My relationships at work are better. My interactions with people are stronger, friendlier. I'm seeing opportunities that just weren't there when my attitude was different.

I'm doing it to my Yuma, baby.

I went to the UU church finally (feeling a need for sense of community). After the service the church's CUUPS chapter had a meeting and one of the members brought a big box full of packages of herbs and told everyone there to take some home.

I got packets of Blessed Thistle, Sage Leaf, Dried Elderberries, and Juniper Berries.

I am happy!

Now, I must admit, in the past, if I looked at a plant, it died. Very sad.

But that is all changing. I am now going to have a beautiful garden filled with color, butterflies and hummingbirds.

This weekend, I went to my local nursery--called The Enchanted Forest--and bought numerous plants. So far, I've spent three days building flower beds, planting, watering and enjoying my flowers. Last night, we had rain and today, all my plants look happy.

Everything is visible through my windows, so I can enjoy my garden from inside the house, too. :)

72. I have to say . I am in AWE
My duplex has a fence. The other three units here do not, and there is a large empty field at the end of our main drive way. Plus the right of way space, etc. The landlord has the field and other yards mowed at his expense.

MY YARD was exempted due to the fence ... not being able to get the riding mower in or something.... ex-rm used to weed whack it (another rm broke the weed whacker), and I paid to have it mowed at the end of the summer.

The grass and weeds have been getting HUGE due to all the rain. I was cruising craigslist the other day to find someone to pay to mow. I thought, "I should just allow this to manifest".
Today I came home for lunch and it is all mowed and trimmed! :applause: :wow: :bounce:

I had somewhat the same situation, and I know a couple guys that will come out and clean up this weedy old acre but they are spendy

Hubby (who is working brutal crazy hours) couldn't stand it and was threatening to spend his days off getting on the neighbor's riding lawn mower and doing it himself.

I was not happy with that idea at all.

Yesterday some guy offered to do the work for 1/3 what the others guy's wanted to charge.

today, the weeds are down, hubby is happy and I saved a bundle :bounce:

Current rm knew someone that would loan us a mower. There was some question whether it would fit in my small trunk, and what kind of driving hazard that might be.

Side note: The bathroom sink has been backing up. I felt I could not call him to fix the sink until the yard was in order. So the bonus is, we can get the sink fixed :D

garden patch)

we have bad goat head stickers and they are everywhere and awful! the poor dogs can't go out there without ending up with their paws all messed up. so we're gonna kill everything off for a couple seasons then start toward a native ground cover

I want all rock out front and we need to put up a carport out there, then in the back I will plant 50 pine trees along the property line for wind breaks and then figure out what we can put in that is a native ground cover

it's gonna be a long term project :D
