Time distortions?
This past weekend I had another "time distortion". My nephew was with me and we left my house to pick up my brother in Kansas City. According to mapquest it takes a little over an hour to get there. We made it in less than 20 minutes. What makes it stranger is that because of roadwork on I-35 we had to take a detour that took us (at least) half a dozen blocks out of our way and through some dense traffic. When I've gone to my brother's house before the shortest time it has taken me was about 45 - 50 minutes. I know it less than 20 minutes because we called my husband when we got there and he thought we were calling because of car trouble because there was no way we could have gotten to our destination in such a short time period. Both my husband and another brother (who was visiting and staying with us) left at home were really puzzled. They "confirmed" the time of the trip by saying that we left after half-time of the basketball game we were watching when we left home wasn't over yet. This isn't the first time that this has happened to me. But it is just one of the times it has happened to me when I've had witnesses to it.

Another time that it happened I was in a passenger in a car driven by a friend of mine. She had a modeling job out of town and asked if I would accompany her. The photo shoot took longer than she expected. When we left the photographer's studio we checked the time (I checked my watch, she checked the time on the microwave in the kitchen of the studio and these times were confirmed by a bank clock a few blocks away when we drove by it) and we were resigned to the fact that we were going to miss our first afternoon class. We were on the west side of Topeka and when we drove there it took about 45 minutes. Well, after we passed the bank the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" started and my friend and I sang along with it. As the song ended we realized we were at the toll booth outside of Lawrence. A trip from Lawrence to Topeka takes about half an hour but we made the entire trip before the song ended. We also made it to the class we thought we would miss although I don't think either of us could really concentrate on what the prof was saying because we were too confused as to how we managed to drive close to fifty miles in less than ten minutes. I do remember that after class my friend and I took off to the nearest bar to talk about it. Everyone thought we were crazy, making it up or confused.

These are just two examples that I've had a "time distortion" occur. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. If you have, has it happened multiple times?

BTW, these aren't the only two times this type of thing has occurred to me but these are two examples of it when I've had someone with me and have had others who could confirm the times I/we left and the time that I/we arrived somewhere. Whenever it happens I don't lose time I seem to gain it. In otherwords, the time that it should take for me to get somewhere is much shorter than it should be possible. The most extraordinary one was when I got from KC to Dallas in about four hours, a trip that should take 8 - 9 hours.

All I can say is, I don't get it. It's a little disconcerting to say the least. This is something that used to happen to my mom. I've got a niece that experiences this phenomenon too.

1. folding space and time
is a great trick...hang on to your newfound ability and use it to your advantage. You're not the first to experience it. The next trick is to make it happen on command.

Happy travelling.

4. The other experience I related happened about 9 years ago
I mentioned it because one of my brothers brought it up after what happened this weekend. I had related the incident to him before and he said looks like it happened again. He told me it happens to our niece (she's 14). It used to happen to my mom too. It's a family thing and it usually happens to with the women. It would be nice to control it.

2. Wow - that's really amazing, Mabus! I have heard that people have the...
ability to stop time, but it was my understanding that it was done consciously, and, since I'd never experienced it myself or heard of someone who had, I was skeptical. However, given what you've said, I'm impressed. It's extremely interesting that it happens to you without you consciously asking for it happen.

Is this the only "strange" thing that happens to you, or do you have other unusual things happen as well?

5. My whole family has weird things happen
Although it seems to happen to the women more often. My husband has said that he never believed that much before he met me but now he's more open to other worldly things since he met me and my family. He still gets freaked out once in a while but he is getting used to it. The one thing that freaked him out more than anything was when we were talking about my mom (she died in 1996). My husband and I had been living together for a couple of months by then and were still getting to know one another. Anyway, I told him I felt she was hanging around one day. He kind of laughed it off. I asked him if he believed in spirits and he said he wasn't sure. I insisted that spirits were real and that my mom was with us at that moment. He just looked at me, shrugged and said he would believe me if he had some kind of sign. So, I looked at the spot where I felt mom was and said something like "Mom if you're here with us, give us a sign." We waited a minute or so and nothing happened. He said "oh well" and then asked if I wanted some coffee. I said sure and he got up to go make me some coffee. He hadn't got to the bedroom door when the electricity went out in the entire house. He looked at me and I looked at him. He looked a little startled and we both went to check the breakers on the back porch. They were all off. He blamed it on the air conditioners and we reset the breakers. He blew it off as "just one of those things" and started back in the house. I stood there and said "Mom" and boom - the electricity went again. I just looked at him and innocently blinked my eyes at him. He looked really spooked that time. I just told him to introduce himself to my mom. He looked at me like "what am I supposed to say?" I told him just to say "hi" and he did. All of a sudden, and without touching any of the breakers, the electricity came back on. When we got back in the house he was still not completely convinced but I said, if there's something wrong with the electricity we should continue to have the power go down. It didn't. It happened twice that morning within a few minutes and hasn't happened since. He's been a lot more open-minded since then but remains a bit of a skeptic.

8. The best thing for me are my dreams
All my life I have had dreams that are eerily true. Unfortunately most of the time it is pretty mundane stuff. For instance I would dream about tests before they happened. I would know what the questions were such that when the test actually occurred I already knew what the answers were. It was very deja vu and I never had to study much. I just knew what the answers were.

I've had physical manifestations of things too. More than once as a child I woke up to find my hair braided in what my mom and dad called an Indian four-braid, that is, the hair was divided into four parts and braided neatly. It used to freak me out and I remember crying and wondering why it kept happening. I thought my older sister was doing it but, according to my parents, my sister had been out in the living room watching television with them and could not have done it (besides that fact that she couldn't and still can't braid hair).

Lately, for some reason, stuff has been happening again (in spades). Last Thursday I was telling my husband about an old friend of mine that I hadn't talked to or seen since (at least) 1989. Friday night he showed up at our house. Yesterday the laundry detergent kept "jumping off" the shelf. Twice we heard something hitting the floor and when I went to look I found the detergent lying on the floor across the room from the shelf I keep it on. Another two times I found it on the floor but didn't hear anything. Today I mentioned another friend to my husband and within the hour he called and invited us out to dinner. An aside when we went to dinner and I ended up sitting next to a little kid who has the same birth date as me.

I can't explain it. I'm just waiting to see what happens next.

12. The time warps
have happened a lot over the last 20 years. Many things have. But the fun part of altered time is changing the words to that "Changes" song by Bowie.

I sing it "Time may change me -- but I can change time" instead of
"Time may change me -- but I cant trace time"

"I" can't really change time but I am grateful for how nicely it can alter for me. (And it is just really fun to sing that line)

18. Check out Mayan Calendar stuff
www.mayanmajix.com has a lot of good information that might give an explanation as to why this has started again for you and where it is going. I would encourage you to watch the DVD lecture that is available for free on the subject.

3. I've been experiencing some strange things too.
Edited on Wed Jan-11-06 09:37 PM by woodsprite
Thought it was just me getting more time efficient, but I haven't changed the way I do things one bit, so I don't think that is it. It has happened frequently over the past month or so for me. It's really strange because I'm one who time usually got away from. When it happenes, it seems strange - like I'm going along as usual, but time is going in slow motion. Things like getting large amounts of work done, but still reading DU at work ;) , making a loop around town to 5 different stops, getting lunch and getting back to work all within an hour, there are others times too, but those are most recent. I had a flash come to me the other day that it was like I was operating on another frequency. If that makes any sense. Heart rate, resps, bp, temp, all seem to be approaching "borderline", but then the doc takes them again and they're normal.

Don't know what's up. Just hope it's positive.

Edited to add the round trip was approx. 3 miles to the credit union (found a place to park, walked and stood in line), 2 miles to bank (went in to the teller), 2 miles to dept. store for CD, 3 miles to daughter's school and left CD in the office with a note that I wrote while standing at the desk, buzzed by the grocery for milk and finally Taco Bell for lunch, then back to work. I did a doubletake to make sure my watch was still working. All thru college town traffic.

7. LOL
On my trip to Dallas I stopped for gas, bathroom breaks and food several times but still made it in record time. On the trip to pick up my brother this past weekend my nephew and I stopped and got something to eat at a drive-through. This was something that should have added time to the trip but obviously it didn't. Everything seemed normal, that is, I wasn't speeding, cars passed us when we driving, etc.

As for any physical effects I don't have anything like increased heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, etc. If anything I feel the opposite. The last time I went to the doctor the nurse took my bp and said it was really low. The nurse made me go to another unit because he said my bp dystolic was so low (42) that if I were on an operating table they would be working to resusitate me. The second unit measured my bp at 78/44. I jokingly told the nurse that his remark made my bp jump. I smoke, I drink coffee all day and I eat meat. According to my doctor I should be having high blood pressure problems not low bp problems. I also have problems with vitamin B. It has always come up low so I take a Vitamin B supplement, if I don't I get fatigued and crabby.

I still find the whole thing a little disconcerting but it is comforting to know that I'm not the only one on DU that this happens to. I guess I should try to be more aware of what triggers it. I need to spend a little bit of time and try to figure out if there are any commonalities between these incidents. Hopefully, over time, I will figure out how/why it happens.

13. Geez, I'd love to go on a trip with you!
Seriously, I'm always running late

I have had a few "time" events too...once in Canada and a few times here. Kinda trippy but for me it felt more like a physical displacement and them back in to the same time/place again.

Cool when it doesn't freak you out & you can "enjoy" or at the least observe them.

:hug:DR

10. Welll... I've prayed for the bending of time,
and it worked! In my cases, though, it was a request to slow it down, so I wouldn't be late for a critical appointment - surgery.

14. A few years ago, I was driving from Atlanta to the Chapel Hill, NC
area to see my family. It was always at least a 6.5 or 7 hour drive, and a fairly dull drive. I'd been hearing about
"bending time," and kept thinking about it while driving. Though it should be impossible, I made the drive in about 3.5 hours.
I thought "Nice!" but the next week, I was in a situation where I realized I had to "pay" the time back--my car broke down on a routine errand in the Atlanta area, and though I spent the afternoon at a friend's office and called towing companies several times, it was 10 hours before I could get my car towed to a garage. I'd wait an hour or so for a tow truck, then call them, and they'd say they had no record of a tow for that address. This happened repeatedly over 10 hours with three different towing companies. I finally realized I was being asked to "pay back" the time I'd "saved" while driving to NC, so have been wary of asking for a "time-bending" ever since! (I'll save it for genuine emergencies!)

15. When I posted earlier in this thread, I was going to mention the...
fact that I had been taught that if one stopped time, the time would have to be paid back. However, maybe this is only if you explicitly asked for it, which was not the case for at least the original poster. In an emergency situation, stopping time would still be extremely helpful; however, I wouldn't personally attempt it otherwise because of what you mentioned and what I have been taught.

16. That's been my take on it--I had been concentrating on "bending time"
for really no other reason than the drive was long and dull. I certainly paid back what I "saved" in time! I kind of envy these folks who just have "time bending" happen to them! Seems no payback necessary there!

17. It happened to me this weekend
I was driving back to Arkansas from Illinois. I went into a meditative state, as I have found this generally helps improve gas mileage. What I noticed was that the cars around me appeared to be going slower than I was, even those that passed me! I checked my speedometer, and I was always within 5 miles of the speed limit (usually 5 mph less, though I did get going fast when going downhill). I got back home an hour early. I know I wasn't speeding, not only because of checking my speedometer but because I wasn't stopped by the four cops I saw on my way home.

Another phenomenae that has happened is that I have felt a wall of light around my vehicle. And once, while doing zkr (a meditative practice), I saw a truck coming downhill, out of control, in my lane (a two lane highway on a winding mountain road). About four feet away, the truck appeared to "bounce" off an invisible something and get back in its lane. That was when I realized the light field that can appear around vehicles.
