More Ghosts After Earthquake
I thought this story very interesting because it supports my observation about ghosts "coming out of the wood work." I don't remember if any of you remember some posts I made when I started my house renovation last fall. I had several incidents: a new bedside stand which had a mirrored top cracked. In addition, a new, custom-made love seat developed a perfectly round hole in the arm.

My neighbor, who renovated the mansion, told me she had an increase in ghost activity, too. In one case the ghosts slammed a basement door on a plumber. The odd thing was that this door had been wedged open through shifts in the foundation of this old house. The plumber was not locked in or anything like that, but this door had not moved since who knows when.

The plumber, who does a lot of work on the old mansions in this area, told my neighbor that he and his team had experienced things like this before. For whatever reason, plumbing and water seems to facilitate ghost activity.

This story tells how more ghosts were seen after the New Zealand earthquake on Sept. 4:

AWAKE? The earthquake has more than doubled the number of reported supernatural events in Canterbury, a paranormal investigator says.

The "sheer strength and power" of the September 4 earthquake has more than doubled the number of reported supernatural events in Canterbury, a paranormal investigator says.

Christchurch Paranormal Investigators founder Anton Heyrick said his team had received an "interesting influx" of phone calls and emails after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake, with more than double the usual number of inquiries.

"People are calling us, saying that they had always felt like there was something in the house, but since the earthquake it had become more intense," he said.

1. I'll have to ask my girlfriend about this, as she lives in Christchurch.
It hasn't been a very fruitful place to live for her, and why she's getting out of there, soon. Maybe she'll glean some insight from this story :)

Thanks for posting it :hi:

2. ... similar things happened to me when I bought my house ...
... it was a 1-owner house built in 1960. They had passed away; the husband in 1994, the wife in 2005. It sat empty for 2 years and then the guy I ultimately bought it from - a flipper - started working on it.

Shortly after I moved in, 3 nights in a row, the same picture "fell" off the wall in my dining room. Each time I checked the nail and the hole and they weren't at all wobbly. A week or so after that, I was going to the basement to do laundry and literally felt someone push my shoulder and I tumbled down the stairs on my butt. I'd also have random occurrences of my pc's disk drive opening/closing and my media player turning itself on in the middle of the night.

I bought a smudging kit and had a "chat" with the previous owners, letting them know that my intentions were to respect their space and honor the property with as much care and love as they did ... and the incidents stopped.

3. Wow--fascinating stuff
I have never heard that, about earthquakes increasing spirit activity, but it makes sense!

We had quite a bit of fuss from our resident spirit when we first moved into our current house. The house needed a LOT of work immediately, so we dug in and started ripping things apart right away. We lived in a construction zone for a couple of years. The first year, Beatrice (my former elder picked up that she was a housekeeper for the original owners starting in the 1860s), was QUITE PEEVED that we were messing around with "her" house so much, and she made her presence known a lot.

But after my coven mates and I "cleaned" the house, and as it dawned on her that we were actually bringing the house back instead of systematically destroying it like so many previous owners and renters had, she quieted down.

The last time she caused problems was a couple of years ago, when she showed her disapproval of "demon drink" by breaking several of our wine glasses. I had a chat with her, and she stopped immediately. What a character!
