Brigid spoke to again--essentially, gitcher goddess shoes on!
If anyone recalls, last year at this time, right around Imbolc (Feb. 1, Brigid's day), I had a very powerful dream with Brigid in it. It affected me greatly and helped me focus better on Brigid, who is a personal goddess of mine.

Starting before Imbolc this year, I asked Brigid for another dream. I thought it would happen close to Imbolc, but it didn't. Instead, I had this year's dream last night. Interestingly, it was close to the same night as the dream I had last year--I think last year's dream was on the night of the 19th. Anyway, this year's dream was clearer than last year's, and the reason I'm posting it is because after I wrote it down this morning I realized that it contains a good message for many of us here. This is the dream:

The guy who was the main person in last year's dream (a long-lost friend) was working on a film crew. I knew where he would be filming, so I went there. I got on a small ferry and traveled to a touristy place--it had a small dock for the ferry, a seawall, a promenade, and some very trendy, upscale shops. I sat on a park bench on the promenade, by the shops, and waited for him, because I knew when he had a break he'd sit there. He did, and although he was on his guard at first, he sat with me and chatted, and eventually we became reacquainted and much more at ease with each other. (I went there every day for quite a few days, apparently.)

Close to the end of the shoot, we were watching the playback of the filming on a monitor. We weren't sitting on a park bench anymore, though--it was more comfortable. I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep, and he turned his head and buried his face in my hair, lost in my scent (my essence more than my shampoo, it seemed). Naturally I was thrilled, and I wondered what he would do next, when he got up and walked away. I opened my eyes in time to see him get on the ferry. There was a "silent" exchange, understood rather than actually spoken, as well--something to the effect of me (or someone else--perhaps even him) saying "Are you going to make something of that, then?" and him responding with a panicked "NOoOOoOOoo!" Men--tchuh! ;)

I got up to follow him onto the ferry, but I remembered that I had to pick up a package at one of the boutiques--a gift for a friend. I figured I had time, so I ran into the boutique, which was just behind me. I could see the ferry from where I was standing at the counter; it was still docked. The salesclerk was a beautiful, dramatic-looking woman with a huge mane of golden/copper hair and really flashy (but expensive) clothing. She was very friendly and chatty, and I didn't have the heart to say, "Shut up; I have a ferry to catch!" so I just fidgeted while we chatted and she folded up the gift item (a dress? a scarf?) Then it got caught on her shoe. She tried to detach it, but it was stuck. Suddenly she took off her shoes and put them in the bag with the gift item. They were gold gladiator sandals--the kind with the wide bit of leather running up the top of the foot and up the ankle. I was shocked and told her she didn't have to do that, but she said she wanted to. I thought they were ugly--they certainly weren't "me"--but she was so generous I couldn't say no. And out of the corner of my eye I saw the ferry pulling away from the dock. End of dream.

So. I'm figuring that the ferry going across the water is the journey to the Dreamtime where my friend and I spend time together. He ran because...who knows...all this Dreamtime togetherness is freaking him out? he doesn't want me to be a part of his "real life" at this time? Dunno. Doesn't matter, I think.

I recognized the salesclerk as Brigid.

But most important--the shoes--oh, ASAHers, the shoes. What better gift to receive from a goddess? And what a lesson--for me and for all my sisters here who are having issues with men and are longing to find The Man of Their Dreams: Forget chasing a man for now. Companionship is nice, and many of us desire it, but it is SO much more important to realize our true goddess potential first.

I'm gonna put my goddess shoes on (even if they are gold gladiator sandals). Who's with me? :D

1. Yay *clapping*

Your sharings never fail to perk me up.

Yes, yes...I recognized Brigid instantly as well. How magickal!!!

Shoes always remind me of the path; dreaming of shoes, to me, is a message about one's path. What a blessed, gifted path you are walking to receive such a treasure!!!

I agree...a perfect message for all of us seeded within your dream as well.

:applause:

4. Aw, thanks, OGR!
The path--too right. And the fact that it was the goddess' own shoes--well! That was overwhelming.

2. I am struck by the image of the sandals...
which are basically soles(soul?) with straps. Why sandals? Not boots or some other types of shoe...

3. I always pictured Brigid wearing gladiator-type sandals...

now I'm not sure why, as I really haven't seen many images of her likeness.

I'm stuck on the "warrior goddess" thing today, so that was my first impression. Strength on this journey...steadfastness.

6. FWIW, in last year's dream
she was dressed as a warrior. I don't remember her footwear--could very well have been gladiator-type sandals--but I do remember that her outfit was more Roman than Celtic, and that surprised me. In fact, she kind of looked like Wonder Woman--short skirt, breastplate (big hair...hee).

7. Thanks for sharing, MG!
Do dreams like this ever change your moods in waking life, especially when there's "the other lover" type of people involved? I have found that to be the case personally, as well as with those I love when they have such dreams...

And every time y'all talk about Brigid, I think of Artemis! Not the same, certainly, but with similarities. I tried to see if a favorite artist had any of Brigid on his site, but no such luck. He does have Artemis, however:

Here's Kagaya's site if y'all want to peruse the other goddesses ;)

8. Hey, K
Wow, that's a beautiful image! Amazing! I could look at that site for hours! (I'm reading MG Jr. the Greek myths for bedtime stories, so it's perfect timing! :) ) I think of Brigid as a version of Artemis quite often, so this one is perfect--thanks for that.

To answer your question, yeah, it can be tough to shift from one world to the other, but it depends on how far into the other world I go. Sometimes, as with last year's Brigid dream, and with a few others where I've "touched the divine", I find it very, VERY hard to function in this dimension the next day. It takes me a couple of days to fully shift back. Last night's dream wasn't as intense, so I wasn't too bad today, although I was all caught up in kid-wrangling/attending a friend of the family's birthday lunch, and I found that I wanted more peace and quiet to just sit and reflect on Brigid's gift and message. Does that make sense?

9. I stumbled upon Kagaya's works years ago,
probably when I was searching on centaur images. I like his Sagittarius painting :)
Oh, and his starfields are astronomically accurate. He makes sure of that. It's a good site to bookmark.

I do have to wonder if there are some historical connections between Brigid and Artemis, then, if you and others think of them almost interchangeably. According to "Encyclopedia of Spirits" Artemis predates the Classical Era of Greece. When the Romans took over, she became Diana. I haven't yet seen a direct bridge between Brigid and Artemis, so would suggest that it's more about strong similarities. Still, some influence may never have been recorded, so we may never know.

I guess what I was getting at more specifically with regards to moods created by our dreams has to do with some experiences I've had, both married and in my current relationship. I can think of a couple of occasions where my past-wife pissed me off in a dream, and that carried over, as well as one where she was contemplating suicide in a dream, so I was depressed in waking life. My girlfriend had a dream a few months back where I rejected her, so that seems to have carried over into waking life, just a bit more enduring than I would have liked. I don't know if that means we were in the dreams really deeply or if it simply hit emotional heartstrings in just the right way in order to carry over into this world. I'm thinking the latter, since the specifics of the dreams aren't very memorable now, versus lucid dreams I've had from decades ago where I can still remember fine details today.

I guess the emotional link wasn't as great in your case, or you're better able to shrug it off than I am, or can "distract" your links easier with waking-life responsibilities ;)

14. Oh, I see
I get it now. Yes, I agree that emotions in lucid dreams can carry over into waking life very strongly. I still remember one my best friend had when we were teenagers. She called my house and my mother answered. When she asked to speak to me, my mom screamed, "She's DEAD!" and hung up the phone. My friend knew I wasn't dead, but she said she couldn't cope all the next morning till it was a decent time to call me to make sure. She was really shaken up--beyond the usual anxiety dream type of stuff.

I can assure you that the emotional link in the dream I just had was quite, quite powerful ;) but as I haven't have any contact with my long-lost friend in...forever...IRL, it's not like I can get irked with him for chickening out and running away like that.

And I still reflect on last year's Brigid dream, quite frequently, in fact. Now I've got two to ruminate on. No, I don't shrug these off very easily at all. :)

10. Funny you should mention gold sandals
I just bought a pair of gold/bronze gladiator sandals today. Not usually my style either, but something about them caught my eye, and when I tried them on they were so comfortable, and made me feel snazzy.

Can't wait for it to warm up enough to wear them

11. Striking
"....so I just fidgeted while we chatted and she folded up the gift item (a dress? a scarf?) Then it got caught on her shoe. She tried to detach it, but it was stuck. Suddenly she took off her shoes and put them in the bag with the gift item."

Striking image of unexpected solution for getting unstuck. :hi:

15. I'm a rebel, I choose to run barefoot in the grass ;)

great dream! I got that the other thing was that we are always trying to "catch the boat" in many ways, men, business, life...we women spend so much time running TO something ...that we can even miss the detail of the goddess in the checkout girl! ;) (much less the goddess in the mirror!)

you realize that she was talking to you and you were NOT paying attention, so she gave you the shoes to "stick" in your memory so you would not forget the exchange?

very cool indeed...

(OT: hey twin, I have had my old college flame in and around my space lately, that 'man from the past' archetype is very strong right now too. I'll pm you the details, omg)

16. Oh, like you're going to refuse a gift of hot-cha golden sandals!

Way important that I was distracted, yes. As usual, chasing after the man, chasing after the man. Ugh. I thought after 44 years I'd have learned that grabbing a man isn't going to fix all my life issues! :P

but you weren't so much looking for the man to fix you.... just enjoying being paid attention to and you wanted more of that. Which isn't *such* a bad thing, isit?

18. Bah--I'm so "all or nothing"
Don't think for a minute I didn't want the whole enchilada--I was chasing after that man for the proverbial "happily every after" and nothing less! P.U. we are so conditioned by fairy tales... :P
