Any knowledge of or experience with chi machines?

Evidently this product is fairly well known, but I just heard of it for the first time last night. Since I don't see commercials thanks to DVR, I missed this invention. :)

Since I'm experiencing L5-S1 disc problems, this was recommended as a home product which helps spinal alignment, and of course helps other issues related to lack of alignment. Supposedly.

Any thoughts?

If you Google "chi machine" a ton of things pop up. You evidently lie on the floor and this moves your feet in unison in a way I assume is hard to do on one's own.

Here's a video showing how it's used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU0zFaM5yw0

Thanks.

2. Yes, but when I bought mine years ago that name wasn't in use yet
I got mine from Home Shopping Club ten or more years ago.

You'd think I would remember what it's called, being as I've had it and used it a thousand times. :)

Thank you Google: it's an Oxyciser and was marketed by exercise maven Brenda Dygraf. Same thing as a Chi Machine.

3. Since you've used it 1000 times....

I take that to be a positive review?

:)

Thanks! :hi:

6. Yes, based on my personal experience, it is a recommendation.
I have L4-L5 issues, sciatica, one leg shorter than the other, and constant pain, tingling and numbness.

For me, the mahcine helps with relaxtion, blood flow and energy. It's not an unpleasant sensation, and when the session is over you do feel quite tingly all over.

I end the session with stretching before I stand up and I wait until almost all the whole-body-tingling's gone. Since my lower back is so bad I can't lie on my back at all without my legs going (and staying) numb, I couple it with the Abdomenizer I bought for doing crunches, because it is a nice piece of molded plastic that supports my lower back.

Oh, and my boyfriend read me the name on my machine-- it is the OxyFlow which was evidently only sold by HSN Networks. It came with a video I don't believe I've ever even watched, but probably still have somewhere.

8. Thank you so much, catzies....

That helps tremendously. Goodness, I'm sorry your back situation is so severe. :(

10. LOL, thanks for that. I saw that they did sue HSN successfully.
But I can tell you that my unit of their machine had for 10 years does not do what they say it does - motor is not weak, shaking is not violent, unit does not heat up. YMMV.

11. There are several knock offs that are cheaper than the chi machine
Heritage ( Edgar Cayce store) has a knock off and they are a pretty reliable source so I might try there. My knock off is called spirit of beauty and I like it a lot but I bought it for 15 bucks at a garage sale.

12. After looking into this a bit more...

I'm leaning toward this one (in case anyone else is following this and had never heard of these machines either).

It's variable speed feature feels very important.

Still a pricey item though. Tons are on ebay but have a no return policy; I don't like that. The manufacturer has a 90-day trial period and APPEARS to have a decent return policy. I couldn't find negative reviews about the product or the company, but I'll keep looking. ;)

13. And with the ebay shipping
you would only save $30.

Here's a comparison chart:

This will definitely stimulate the lymphatic system, so be sure to drink lots of water.

14. Yes, ma'am.....

I'm going to keep an eye out on craigslist.

It makes sense that this could help a whole host of conditions, including my SO's apnea.

Going through the process of finding a free or sliding scale sleep study center is next on my agenda, for him to get a CPAP machine.

Thanks for all the good links.
