Can dogs really be alcoholic?

I remember on TOPPER (ancient TV show) the dog was alcoholic, but can they really be?

2. 'Being alcoholic' is a congenital condition, in humans certainly,
and is not 'caused' because they have a drink or 2 or many. NO IDEA if same gene possible/likely to occur in other mammals, but as posters have suggested, dogs may 'like' alcoholic drinks. This does NOT suggest they are alcoholic. Bodies of alcoholic humans PREFER alcohol to other food/drink.
