We lost Spooky on Monday
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 11:37 AM by mikelgb
Some of you may remember our boy Spooky. He was diagnosed with cancer in January and was started on chemo and quickly beat back the lymphoma. At the begining of May he began to have some potty issues, not being able to pee, He was treated but 2 weeks ago he became very disoriented and lethargic. In the end there was nothing we could do to get pook back to normal again, there was something wrong with his brain and it most likely was not cancer, we tried more chemo but with no improvement he began to deteriorate and and we had to put him down Monday afternoon. We are heartbroken. He was our pooky bear, nearly human. He is survived by his Buddy Jubei and two greif stricken dads.

We miss you so much Pook.

on edit: thanks again to all of you who helped Spook by donating to his treatment fund. We are so grateful for the many months of time we got to spend with our boy. We beat the cancer but something else came and took him from us. =(

4. Big hug...
I'm sorry for your loss. We just had a cat diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma so I'm especially sympathetic to your plight. We treat our pets better than humans as we reach the end of our time here but its an extremely hard thing to do.

9. I'm so sorry...I never knew your little guy but
I can sure empathize with you on his loss.

I've lost three old dogs myself in 7 months, the last one having to be put down Tuesday of last week.

They really do feel like children to us...

anyway, one thing I did to console my heart and remember them (like I would ever forget!) was to buy a memorial necklace from the animal rescue site:

http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3

I click on the "donate" button each day to donate food, and any purchases made go toward food for needy animals.

Again, my most heartfelt condolences....

11. Thanks for all the hugs....
He was so a part of our lives, just so hard to get on without him.

Every night he would let us know it was time for bed and wake us up promptly a dawn (sometimes a little earlier) for breakfast.

He was such a great cat.

ugh

12. So sorry to hear this.
I'm sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to lose them, and it's certainly never easy.

Thank you for caring him! In my mind, it's very important to them to know that they are loved...and Spooky obviously knew that!

14. Oh, Spooky.
Tears will leave no stain,
Time will ease the pain.
For every life that fades
Something beautiful remains.

18. A quote that gives me some comfort in times like this...
Fragile Circle

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan."

~Irving Townsend

God bless you and Spooky.

He looks like a short haired version of my Atticus Pye, who crossed the rainbow bridge late last year. Such a beautiful kitty.

 to you and the rest of his family.
