MOVING UPDATE: I can take both cats with me
Refer to this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=243x37911

I saw my new landlady, and she told me it was OK for me to keep both my cats. She has 2 cats of her own--brother and sister, both about Max's age (almost 11 months), but I have to be careful. I'll have to put Soft Claws on them because the house has hardwood floors; I'll have to keep them penned up in my new room until the cats get to know one another; and I'll have to keep them either in my room or down the basement at night.
Her cats trip the security alarm if they run around overnight with the midnight crazies , and if my cats don't behave, they'll end up joining them down the cellar.

I not only think Max and Ruby will end up making two new friends, but also I think my landlady will end up wanting Max. :D

1. That's great.
I have two cats, Tyler and Grace. I would never be able to give either of them up. I'm sure all of you will be very happy together in your new home.

2. Yeah! I am really glad that you checked with her a second time about this...
I am sure Ruby and Max will be glad too! You might want to look into buying some (or a lot of) new cat toys when you move -- keep them entertained and the transition to the new home may go better.

:hi:

3. Great news. It is just heartbreaking to be in aposition to have to give up a pet...
They are like children.

5. Watch your kitties carefully as cats get freaked when they move.
Also, I wish your landlady were not such a fussbudget.

8. The house has hardwood floors
Too much cat misbehavior, e.g., scratching, running around the house in the middle of the night, etc., can scratch the floors. She has good reason to be a bit fussy. If I owned a house with hardwood floors, I'd be a fussbudget, too.
I want my cats to behave (I have no problem with Ruby; it's "mad" Max--he's a crazy cat!).
