The hole in my heart has finally been filled!
It's been a little over 5 months since I lost my baby ... my poodle, Maestro. I swore I'd never go through it again. I swore I was done being a dog mom because it's heartbreaking when it's time to say goodbye. I've had to do it three times in my life ... and that's enough for me. I got my first dog when I was 7 years old and since then, these five months have been the longest period of time I've gone without the pitter-patter of little, furry feet ... and it's been the worst 5 months of my life. But now it's over!

On Saturday, I met a little guy who crawled into my heart and refused to leave. :-)

I'd like you all to meet my 10 week old Schnoodle ... Ozzy! He's a five and a half pound ball of energy with legs, LOL! I'm exhausted ... but I absolutely adore him!

2. Awww, what a cutie
I know how you felt when you lost your dog, I've been through too and I said exactly the same things. Thats why I started fostering, I could have dogs in my house with no financial responsibility other than food and no emotional attachment. Plus I was helping the doggies out. That lasted about 10 months until the one came that didn't leave. I even continued fostering because I found it rewarding but my boy was here to stay. Until last year, Gus decided that he wanted a little brother, so I kept another one of my fosters. So I have 2 now, and I still foster, although not as much as I did before. Its not the same, because the last dog I had was my heart dog, the one that I was totally in tune with. It will never be the same, but I do love my boys.

Congratulations on your new friend.

4. My "heart dog"
That's the perfect way to describe Maestro. I loved my other guys so much, but there was something about Maestro ... he and I had a very special connection from day one. :-)

It's funny ... I think Ozzy sensed how much I really needed a dog, even though I couldn't admit to myself that I wanted one. He was able to break through the wall and he's already starting to wrap me around his little paw, LOL!

7. It only takes one to break through
I went 10 months with multiple dogs going in and out of my house, and I wasn't tempted to keep any of them. Gus was the one that broke through, and I only had him a few days before I decided. Same with Eddie, except I told Gus that he had to get himself housetrained before we made the decision. Poor boy, he came from a puppy mill, was there until he was 6 months old, and he was difficult to housebreak.

8. Ozzy sends a high-pitched, hello squeal to Cindy and Murphy!
It's got to be the Schnauzer in him because I got my poodle at 8 weeks old and he never sounded like that, LOL! :D

15. It is the
schnauzer in him. I have a miniature schnauzer and he makes
some of the strangest and cutest sounds. It's sounds like
he's talking. And when he yawns he squeals like that.

17. Weirdest sounds I've ever heard from a dog, LOL!
I can't tell if he's crying, talking, singing ... or yodeling! :D

6. OMG, what a sweet face!!!
How can you not fall in love with a kisser like that!!!!!!

Congratulations on the new addition. I wish you and Ozzy many, many happy fun-filled years!!

BTW, I'm so jealous.....my little wire fox Andy died unexpectedly last September and I'm still without a dog (but I picked up 3 new cats). There's nothing like a dog and I miss not having the pitter-patter of puppy-paws.

Good Luck to you and Ozzy!

9. Thank you!
:hi:

I'm sorry about your little Andy. I agree with you ... I love cats, but there's nothing like a dog. :-)

Puppy-paws? Awesome! Puppy-energy? Exhausting! I need more caffeine, LOL!

12. Oh, my, what adoring eyes!
I get that look from my Corky, a poodle mix, and he just melts my heart. I have five dogs and I love all of them but there's just something about Corky . . . so I totally understand your relationship with Maestro. I hope you have that or something similar with Ozzy!

19. I'm already seeing many similarities between Ozzy and Maestro.
It must be the poodle personality. It's strange - Maestro had certain qualities and quirks that I never saw in any other dog ... yet I'm seeing them in Ozzy. Even if I end up having only half the connection with Ozzy that I did with Maestro, I'd be thrilled! :D

20. Yeah ... you never know.
When I woke up Saturday morning, I still had the "no more dogs" mindset. By 1:00 pm, I had a Schnoodle! :D
