Firefox history...settings?
Edited on Tue Jun-15-10 12:31 AM by madfloridian
Before some recent updates I had my history set for only a few days. I find 3.6.3 is saving history all the way back to April. I did search at the website on how to set history the way I had it before.

There seems to be no way to do it. I use CCleaner nightly. It is set to delete Firefox cookies, download history, internet cache, and internet history.

But when I go to find something I visited earlier that day in history, everything is there back to April.

Am I just not understanding some settings?

2. I have it set to remember my browsing history for 7 days.
Yet it goes back to April.

3. That setting is not meant to delete history older than 7 days.

It's meant to prevent removal of history within the amount of days given. It turns out that the _min tells Firefox when it can delete an entry, but it won’t unless it’s short on space.

To achieve what you're wanting, launch Firefox, type in about:config in the address bar, go there, click through any warning page then into the Filter box type: history

Change the following values by double-clicking the line for each:

browser.history_expire_days_min (set desired value)
browser.history_expire_days.mirror (set desired value)
browser.history_expire_days (set desired value)

Setting history_expire_days (and history_expire_days.mirror) to 14 solved the problem: now things get saved for at least 7 days, but not to exceed 14. No more 6-month-old history entries!
