Firefox 3.5.2
Someone here told me to make a new profile and I didn't listen. While most of my Firefox 3.5.2 problems were taken care of by getting rid of a few addons I was still having some glitches.

I finally took the advice and created a new profile. I exported my bookmarks in an html file first. Created the new profile and imported the bookmark html file. Set my option settings and now Firefox is working perfectly.

Thanks to the person who suggested it and I wish I had taken your advice earlier. I think I wasn't quite sure how to do it so was reluctant.

1. Yeah
I think charlie was first to suggest it and I concurred. Another thing you might want to look into is FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension).

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109">FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, bookmarks, preferences, passwords, cookies and just about everything else Firefox offers (it can even backup/restore your entire profile). You can selectively restore only the items you need. For instance, you may just want your bookmarks restored and leave everything else as it was.

I've used it to diagnose profile problems as well as transport my profile to a new machine. Works great.

2. Thanks. I'll check that out.
I spoke too soon. I do have one little glitch but I don't know what is causing it or how to fix it. It's with a share this wordpress plugin that was working fine until I changed profiles.

3. That may be javascript ...

Do you have it turned on in your options, and do you have any extension that may be blocking it?

4. Javascript is enabled.

Let me see if enabling the Java Quickstarter addon helps.

I switched back to my old profile and the Share This is working now, so it's something different in the new profile. Any ideas?

5. Which plugin is it?

Is it the "Press This" plugin? That is simply a javascript expression you save as a bookmark that allows you to quickly publish (share) text from other websites on your own blog.

If this is what you're using that won't work, something is blocking the javascript.

Java Quickstarter won't do anything. Javascript and Java are different, and, IIRC, the quickstarter relates to the latter, the Wordpress plugin likely the former.

6. It's the Share This wordpress plugin.
It works fine in the old profile but not in the new profile.

This is the plugin that lets you share information on Twitter, MySpace, digg, etc. etc. etc.

7. Are you talking about the browser plugin?

The add-on for Firefox?

8. No, it's a Wordpress plugin.
I created another Firefox profile and it's working fine now. Go figure. I hope that's the last profile I have to create. :-)
