Is Linux to PC internet access sharing possible?
Here's my scenario:

My son's computer is running Ubuntu, but it's not connected to the internet.

I have internet access on my PC (XP Pro).

Can I simply use the XP Access Sharing with an Ethernet connection?

Or is it not as simple as that?

Thanks.

1. Internet Connection Sharing or Bridging
can effectively allow both to connect to the internet.

Are you on a broadband (Cable/DSL/Sat.) connection, or dial-up? If so, get a cheap $10 router on ebay and setup a simple home network, is the easiest solution. Let me know what you have and I can offer better advice.

2. Er, no. It's dial-up.
I should have mentioned that.

I know I should just run a phone line to my son's computer, but it's hard to find that much pre-terminated phone line (it's a 50'distance). But I can buy CAT-5 cable anywhere.

Also, I don't want to have to buy another modem. I know, I'm cheap.

I was hoping there would be a magical interface that the Ubuntu machine would see as a simple network access through the Ethernet port.
