Word wants to be Excel?
A friend tried to send me a document but it came out all weird. Then he told me that any document he tries to save in Word, converts itself to Excel. I used to work with those but now only have Open Office so i was wondering if anyone here could suggest some steps I could tell him so his Word documents stay in Word format. I would guess it is just some box that needs to be checked but, like I said, I don't have it now, so I can't look.

Appreciate your feedback, always.

1. There appears to be some kind of weird glitch going on in Office.
I had a client who couldn't open up an Excel spreadsheet he'd received in an email- it was trying to open up in Word for some reason.

I saved the file to his desktop and immediately noticed the icon was for Word and not Excel. I simply right clicked the icon, went to Properties, and then to the Open With dialogue under the General tab. I restored the Excel association to the file and that was the end of it.

This is like the third time this week I've heard reference to this glitch, so I'll just bow to the inevitable and blame Microshaft.
