Nick Jr.'s "Fresh Beat Band."

If you have a pre-schooler or two running around, you might have seen the annoyingly catchy creative movement music videos from the "Fresh Beat Band" (formerly The Jump Arounds) for the last 6 months or so leading up to their TV show on Nick Jr.

My three year old girl has been drawn to one of the members in particular - 'Kiki' - and dances in front of the TV whenever the bubblegum pop vids come on.

Turns out 'Kiki' is quite talented, though. Real name Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer, AKA Amyra.

University of Miami - opera scholarship, has performed at Carnegie Hall, sang back-up on Engelbert Humperdinck world tour and played violin on the Zappa family's world tour (Dweezil and Moon Unit I assume since Frank died in '93). She's been on Guiding Light and in productions of 'West Side Story.'

I believe they're referring to the "Zappa Plays Zappa" tour. Also note that it says "invited to sing and play violin". I don't think she ever actually did so. (I can't find any evidence of her playing with them, and she's not listed as a band member on the Wikipedia entry for Zappa Plays Zappa.)

By the way, I don't think Dweezil and Moon have played together on a regular basis. Dweezil and Ahmet, however, had a group called Z that put out two albums after Frank died.

I suspect that the members' incompatible politics and seething personal resentments are to blame. :evilgrin:
