How much sleep do teenagers need?
My 14 yr old crashed at 8:30 tonight. He usually gets up at 6 and goes to bed around 9:30 or 10. Lately, it has been a bear to get him up. He is definitely growing, but is it normal for teens to need 10 hours of sleep to be human?

1. They need at least ten, and their body clocks are being altered
A growth spurt will put a zinger in their energy, but they will probably make up for it later. A lot of teenagers will want to sleep into the daytime and stay up later at night. This is not a ploy, this is biology! :)

2. Sometimes A LOT..sometimes NONE (it seems like none)
there were times when my boys would sleep til 2 in the afternnon on weekends.....stay up til 2 am...rinse & repeat..

other times they would doze off after dinner and be up-and-at-em at 6 am..

teenagers are weird :)
