1. Welcome home!
Glad it takes so little to make you happy. Bet Mr. K is, too.

Hope the trip wasn't too hard on you. How's your back? It was really wonderful that you went to take care of your friend who needed it so badly.

4. I think removing the drawer? that was in the area where your espresso machine is makes a big
difference as well - more streamlined to the eye by having that whole area counter-height. The new hardware makes the cabinets pop. Very, very nice.

6. we didn't remove the drawer, the two before pics were one with and one
before we got the drawers installed.

I really need those drawers, they are the only ones big enough to actually keep silver ware in

9. Gotcha! For a minute there I thought I was looking at one of those 'spot the differences' pictures!
I know how important space is - there's never, ever enough!!! In my new house I decided to make the kitchen the center of everything & went with over 30 linear feet of counter space. Do I have enough? Of course not! Same with the cabinets, I've got 3 times more space, didn't buy anything new, and I still don't have enough room. I guess I just had everything crammed beyond belief before & now have it where it's more manageable. I find it bizarre how we naturally just spread out to whatever amount of space is accessible to us.

7. I like your hardware they do add an aesthetic appeal to the cabinets
I see why you wanted to paint the cabinets, they kinda blend in with the floor. But I guess the hardware will have to do for now.

15. yeah I got em on eBay for a very reasonable price I think
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 05:56 PM by NMDemDist2
stepmom Lady B told us "you'll spend $500, that's what mine cost" and I'm thinking "$500???? ain't gonna happen...."

eBay is the bomb and these are good quality and the new hinges, while not extremely noticeable, make the cabinets work better :bounce:

let me know if you want the seller info....

edit to add, I'm gonna paint the small vanity in the guest bath, I'll let you know how it goes...

16. Yeah, lemme know about the bathroom.
I wonder about the sorta rough, shaped areas between the flat parts. I know a good primer is needed, but still wonder if that texture will show. Mine are older than yours.

I was shocked when you said you'd done the hardware for under $100. They do add up. Not $500 in MY world, though!!!!!

My daughter wrote me that she's considering new pulls. I told her to count 'em up and estimate at least $5/per. Silly thing is, her cabinets don't have any pulls!!!!

I'd love the seller info! TX!

BTW, dad installed his light fixture. It is gorgeous.

17. Love your new hardware. They look a bit like a tilde, don't
they ~~~~~~~~?

BTW, my SIL recently painted her bathroom vanity cabinet. She said she sanded them, and then used metal paint. They are faux wood mobile home cabinetry, too, but the finish is now smooth and shiny, kind of like enamel. I think they look great.

Thanks for sharing your friend's story with us. He sounds like a wonderful man.
