Julia Child in the news
Julia talked about working at the OSS in her book, My Life In France, where she told about her day to day life in France with hubby, Paul. But I guess some documents were recently declassified and it's made the news.

The news article in the Boston Globe
"Not top secret: Julia Child's work for spy agency"

4. I sometimes shopped at the same market as Julia.
And we bought our bread from the same bakery. I considered us BBF even though we never actually met.

:toast: to Julia!

7. Before I forget...
The absolute greatest moment I recall is Julia making a goof in the kitchen, dropping the main dish on the floor. She recovered that on LIVE TV show with something like "you are alone in your kitchen" - that alone made it okay to mess up but put on a good front for guests.

:-)

8. They reported this on the
local news the other night. They referred to her as "the James Bond of bonbons." and made out like she was doing dangerous work behind enemy lines or something.

What a buncha maroons! :eyes:

9. maybe they love the culinary types
A dear friend, who is a figure in the culinary field and who lived in France and Italy 20-30 years ago, was approached by the CIA on numerous occasions. They wanted him to spy.

He told them no and not only that, he told them it was because the U.S. gov't is rotten from the inside out. He said he wanted nothing to do with them, ever.

And to think, it's only gotten worse.
