Crockpots Rock! Bottom round was on sale this week, so...
I got a 5 pound chunk of it. Chopped off about a pound and dropped it into the crockpot on low for maybe 6 hours. Minimal prep and seasoning involved.

Hadn't done this in a while and forgot how buttery a pot roast can be. Good thing I didn't do the whole 5 pounds 'cause I'm at half of the chunk I did and still hungry. Very hungry.

(Must find refrigrator padlock and lose the key.)

Pork roasts are on sale, too. Must practice self-control

4. I find summer to be crock pot weather, too
since it'll cook your dinner all day without heating up the kitchen. Of course, I tend to live on bean cuisine, so I'm skipping the heavier winter fare like pot roast and coq au vin. It's great for bean soups with garlic and greens.

I do everything in summer with the crock pot, the toaster oven, and the solar oven for breads and bean terrines.

3. HERES MY POT ROAST (CROCK POT)

I roll about a 2lb bottom round roast in flour, garlic pepper, salt and place it in my crock pot
with a little olive oil. I let it brown for about an hour turning it about every 15 min.then i add 8 oz of water. then I add 6-8 carrots,4-6 potatoes 2 pieces of celery cut in 1/2 inch chunks
an about a quarter of an onion. add enough water to cover heat for 3-5 hours adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce.sprinkle a tablespoon of flour over the liquid every now and then but don't thicken until last 10 minutes.
I ADD ONE CAN OF MUSHROOM GRAVY AND A RUE WITH FLOUR TO THICKEN. YOU CAN ALSO ADD DUMPLING MIX
DROP IN SPOON SIZE AFTER GRAVY IS THICKENED!
UMMM GOOD!

7. I stopped by the local meat market this afternoon.
They had a few lovely porketta roasts in the case for $1.99 a lb. The biggest one came home with me and will be in the crockpot tomorrow night. I think I'll make some applesauce to have with it. :9
