Best printer/fax combo for mac - looking for input.
I hate putting HP software on my machine...always messes it up.

However, without installing the HP software, we can't tell the fax part of the printer to print a receipt on every fax sent - it will only print a receipt when the fax fails....I'm running into problems with banks and other financial institutions saying they are not getting my faxes....so I need proof....and I'm tired of running to Office Depot.

Soooo...any recommendations on a printer/fax combo for macs?

Many, many thanks for your help!

1. I'm sorry to say, but unless you spend a huige amount of money, an HP is the best there is.
We actually use a Savin 9016 on our network, but that's a $5K machine. We also have a HP CM2320 color laser all-in-one. It is a great machine and works perfectly with the Macs - software included. I don't use the fax function, so I can't say for sure what it does, but most modern machines will print a receipt.

Why the antipathy to HP software? It isn't great, but, for us at least, it works, albeit at a basic level.

3. HP software does not work consistently much past the first update they
release...or if you update ANY software apps on your machine....I've used 4 different macs over the last 8 years and HP software sucksass bigtime..I've had more problems with HP hardware and software in the past 8 years and I'm not buying another one...not worth the time even if the printer was given to me free.

4. Did you use Software update for the HP driver updates?

I've found that EVERY time I updated the HP drivers thru software update my MFP started screwing up bigtime. Usually involving the scanner. I soon learned that Apple offered to update my HP drivers to Just Say NO! and download the latest drivers from the HP site. Never a Problem when I did that. I have no explanation for why this happened, only that I happened consistently.....as in every time.

5. I have *always* updated direct from HP. I use the Apple update simply as a reminder.
Fpr whatever reason, HP software installs in an unconventional manner, whether on a Mac, a Windows machine, Linux, etc.
