Why are pop-unders now getting through Firefox?
Recently I noticed pop under ads getting through Firefox's pop up block. Obviously the spammers are vreating new hacks do if there an update to block this?

1. It's happening in Safari also
Programmers have discovered how to get around the popup blockers.

Somewhere I read an Applescript program for blocking the popups and popunders, but I don't know enough about scripting to mess with that. I'm guessing that it's just a matter of time before the Mozilla team figures out how to block things again for Firefox.

2. Here's what I did:
Go to Firefox's Preferences, then uncheck the "Enable Javascript" function. This has blcoked all pop-unders on my Mac so far. I hope this helps.

5. Possibly, though I don't really notice.
All the webpages I go to seem to contain everything when I don't have Javascript selected.

8. I just ran a quick test of Safari with and without Javascript enabled
Turning Javascript off seems to block the pop-unders. Give it a try and see if it works.

3. I am getting them while visitng this site
I routinely scan many newspapers every day and sometimes post here. It is only when I come here that I am getting popups - at least they are hiding under the main page and I notice them only when I close everything, or when I open the window to see what is open
