When did Boca sausage get so good?
I tried it years ago and it tasted like cardboard. I had to throw it out. I bought Morning Star Farms instead for years. On a whim I bought the Boca the other day and just had some. Damn it was good! I was never a big sausage lover, even when I ate meat so for me to like it is really saying something.

1. Some veggie sausage crumbles still taste like cardboard
(y'all know the ones I mean). Boca has discovered things like hot pepper and fennel seed, and that makes a huge difference in getting it to taste like sausage.

2. A confession
I never had an "imitation meat" product until last week! This is after nearly 35 years of on and off vegetarianism. I tried the Morningstar Garden Burger and really like it!

I will have to try the Boca sausage next :-).

3. Suggestion
fry it in a pan or on a griddle. Don't nuke it. Yum!

The other night I made Quorn crumbles (beef style grounds) tacos too - yum again! Quorn isn't vegan though - I believe it has egg in it. http://www.quorn.us/

11. I never knew they did beef style grounds
I'm hooked on their chicken nuggets-our Publix grocery stores (largest chain) even carrys them now! The Indian saute looks yummy too. :hi:

9. Coincidentally, I did try it the other day!
It tasted incredibly like chicken. I was amazed. I wasn't able to find the Boca Italian Sausage anywhere yet.

5. I much prefer Morningstar breakfast sausages to Boca.
Though Boca does have a delicious Italian sausage. Tastes like the real thing.

7. I'm not sure if they make one
that is vegan, but this one has milk in it (I just looked), so it isn't.

I didn't care for the Gimmelean sausage flavor but I love the plain one. It's hard to find where I am though. The sausage one is everywhere but not the plain one.

10. I can't find the plain style either
My local Winn Dixie used to carry plain Gimmelean but they don't anymore. I can't find it anywhere.

12. What's the deal with that?
I love making a burger out of that stuff; or tacos. I sometimes see it at a very expensive local health food store, but that's about it. I guess the sausage flavor is more popular.
