I am sick and fucking tired of TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE!

It seems like every frickin' time an endangered species hits the news, i.e. the current story on LBN about the disappearance of the tiger, it's because of poaching for the stupid Chinese medicine market!!!!

I've fucking had it!!!!!

You know, if the Chinese gov't wants to be oppressive, it can start with cracking down on this stupidity.

1. Don't knock it completely

Folk medicine is the problem, not traditional Chinese medicine practiced by their hospital folks. Most of those endangered species are sold in stalls in open marketplaces, not turned into herbal medicines in the Chinese factories. The same is true for other areas, especially the middle east, where they favor rhino horns for impotence cures and dagger handles. When the patent on Viagra expires, expect to see a whole lot less pressure on endangered species worldwide.

I agree the Chinese government can do more to discourage this crap, and they have been starting to in the past decade and a half.

However, the Chinese aren't the only people who use stupid folk cures instead of medicine that works, so it's foolish to focus only on them.

2. The Chinese market is the largest one. That makes them the bad guys.

I'm not saying they're the only ones who use stupid cures, but they seem to favor the most endangered species and use the most.

So I am going to knock it completely.
