Near-miss scheduled for tomorrow morning
Why do they call it a near-miss? "When two planes almost collide, they call it a near miss. It's a near hit! A collision is a near miss. Poof! Look, they nearly missed. Yes, but not quite! (George Carlin)

Universe Today is reporting that an SUV-sized asteroid will pass by the Earth tomorrow at a distance of about 28,000 miles. That’s close, but quite safe! The Earth is about 8000 miles in diameter, for comparison. The rock will pass around the same height above the Earth’s surface as orbiting weather and communication satellites.

6. An "SUV-sized" rock wouldn't make a dent
IIRC, it would just burn up in the atmosphere. The one that wiped out the dinosaurs was several miles wide.

7. No, this one was only discovered this year
and it's really not that large, about the size of an SUV.

9. They call it a near miss so they don't have to do anything about it.

Oh, it missed, nothing to worry about.

Shit we nearly hit that! we should do something.
