German Radical Christians Look to US
...
Experts differ on the number of supporters of small Christian congregations that aim to establish radical Christendom in Germany.

Rüdiger Hauth, who monitors religious sects for the Evangelical Church, Germany's largest Protestant church, in the western German region of Westphalia, said there are ten thousands of supporters. But Richard Ziegert, Hauth's colleague from the southwestern region of Palatinate, believes that there are more than 250,000 radical Christians in the country and US missionaries are increasingly coming to Germany to spread the word.

"These are sectarian groups that don't work for the benefit of the public," Ziegert said, adding that they were mainly concerned with merging politics and capitalism to reap the largest possible profit.

Experts also differ whether these groups will start becoming more politically active in the future. Both Hauth and Klaiber said they don't believe they will. But Ziegert said he expected to see a growing political with backing from the US.

I beleive in a womens right to choose because of the consequenses, not because it's ok.Being a liberal christian it is my right to stress love, tolerance and forgivness rather than judgement, punishment and fear.

3. pentecostals/charismatics have been in Germany since the beginning
of the 20th century....for those knowledgeable about pentecostal history, German pentecostals had a movement similar to that of the Azusa Street Mission in LA in the early 1900s

Reinhardt Bohnke is an international pentecostal leader originally based in South Africa but now in Germany

There was a pentecostal conference for all of Europe in Berlin last summer. It took place about one week after the triennial conference of the Lutheran Church (also in Berlin); this conference, for the first time since the Reformation, included Roman Catholics.

Many German pentecostal churches, especially in the former East Germany, have ministers from the US or trained in the US. Many have attended the Rhema Bible Institute in Tulsa, a school growing out of the charismatic church started by Kenneth Hagin; his son is now the minister.
