CDC pushes for universal circumcision recommendation.

20 years ago when my oldest son was born, the AAP's recommendation was that no newborn baby boy should be routinely circumcised. Now, here they go, changing their opinions again. Personally, I'm against this.

1. This is a bit misleading title.

The topic is a delicate one that has already generated controversy, even though a formal draft of the proposed recommendations, due out from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by the end of the year, has yet to be released.

Circumcision rates have fallen in part because the American Academy of Pediatrics, which sets the guidelines for infant care, does not endorse routine circumcision. Its policy says that circumcision is “not essential to the child’s current well-being,” and as a result, many state Medicaid programs do not cover the operation.

The academy is revising its guidelines, however, and is likely to do away with the neutral tone in favor of a more encouraging policy stating that circumcision has health benefits even beyond H.I.V. prevention, like reducing urinary tract infections for baby boys, said Dr. Michael Brady, a consultant to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

I personally have no horse in this discussion about circumcision... but if there is a link regarding Aids, it might not be a bad idea to revisit the issue.

I am way too suspicious of these kind of HC claims these these days. I did a lot of research on this today.

This is a real thing that is happening in the universe that we live in. The Birthers’ intent with this, of course, is simply to give him an opportunity to prove his Christian American birthright to the presidency. (Shh — nobody tell them that Muslims also practice circumcision, and just to be safe, nobody tell them about Wikipedia.)

How long until a bill is introduced in Congress? Fingers crossed — with any luck, by this time next year, the Republican party will be so discredited that Obama and the Democrats can blow through immigration reform without letting it get killed by ‘bipartisanship.’

I’m going to be honest and say that I just wanted a chance to use this title before someone beat me to it.

RUSH: By the way, leave our penises alone, too! This is getting out of hand. There is a story that some officials in the Obama administration are pushing for circumcision for all boys born in the USA to fight HIV/AIDS. Not that I'm against circumcision, but it's a family's decision. Leave our penises alone, too, Obama! You know who's going to be really upset about this news? NOCIRC, the National Organization of Circumcision Information Resource Centers. They're a San Francisco group, and they want to eliminate circumcision. So here's Obama out there saying we have to have circumcision of every young boy born in the country. This is not going to please the NOCIRC people at all.

Please take your concern somewhere else. Once again I say the OP Title was misleading, and this is why. it is a new RW HCR LIE that they are trying to form.
