I can't even begin to understand all the issues about health care reform, but just this one piece intrigues me. If everyone had some form of Health Insurance, wouldn't the overrun emergency rooms be instantly transformed from general medical care (tootaches, sore throats, etc.) to real emergency/critical care units? Those of us who have insurance are already paying increased premiums and inflated hospital costs to cover the uninsured who flock to ERs instead of going to primary care physicians. Anyone who needs care should receive care...proper care...and in a timely way. But the emergency rooms should be reserved for exactly that...emergencies. Let's help people get to the doctors they need when they need to instead of having to resort to the ERs. I just don't get the resistance to health care reform.
