Last month, Nancy Pelosi told a group of reporters that on health care, “over and over again, we hear — single payer, single payer, single payer.”
“Well, it’s not going to be single payer,” Pelosi said, emphatically.
Well, yes, it is, Madame Speaker.
Sooner or later, it is going to be single payer.
And it better be sooner.
Because 60 Americans die every day from lack of health insurance.
And single payer is the only health care reform that will simultaneously cover everyone and control costs.
Yesterday, we were told that Nancy Pelosi would be speaking about her recent trip to China at the Brookings Instiution.
So we went over to Brookings, wanting to ask Pelosi about why she continues to keep single payer off the table.
It’s as if she’s working for the insurance corporations instead of for the American people.
But, lo and behold, we were kicked off the property, into the rain, and onto the sidewalk.
Nevertheless, as Pelosi exited her limo, we were able let her hear it one more time.
“Madame Speaker, put single payer back on the table.” (See video clip here.)
