3. We are thinking of going... but we are in SD
Its at two which means we would have to leave friday night (neither of us are morning persons and will not get up!). So we may fly - if we can find very cheap flights - or drive or not make it at all... Im hoping we can make it though...

4. Southwest tends to run really cheap flights into SMF from SoCal.
Anybody who's coming up LMK, I'd be delighted to meet up for lunch before or dinner afterward.

5. The official press release
Massive Protest Against Prop 8 at the California State Capitol Building Saturday, November 22nd

11/18/2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Saturday, November 22 at 2:00pm PST, equal-minded citizens from across the state and country will take part in "Take it to Sacramento," a massive protest against this bigoted and hateful measure on the steps of our State Capitol Building. With an estimated attendance in the tens of thousands, this event promises to send a clear message to the state and the nation that civil rights are inalienable among all its citizens. Los Angeles-based California Outreach and Sacramento-based Equality Action Now have teamed up to organize this historic event, and the outpouring of support has already been incredible. State and local politicians, celebrities, religious dignitaries, and community leaders will be in attendance and available for comments and media interviews. A number of corporate sponsors have committed their support, and many local booths and vendors are also getting involved. With all of us standing together to fight this hateful measure, we will be an unparalleled force fighting for equality and justice. This is nothing less than history in the making!

There is no better or more urgent time than now for this to happen. With the State Supreme Court debating to take the case to overturn the proposition - and the State Senate and Assembly on the fence, teetering between supporting what is right and what a slim majority of the constituents in California voted for - it is absolutely crucial that we get out there as a community and show our unified strength and unwavering commitment to civil rights. Together we will be heard, together we will fight, and together we will win!

6. Has this been posted in some other areas at DU as well?
Maybe there will be some allies in the area who would like to attend.

7. I would absolutely love to go
but I doubt my dad would let me get even close to a protest.
It is only about 2 hours away though...
