Prop. 8 & Canadian Refugee Status

Here's something I've been wondering. There's a lot of "ifs", but it's an interesting scenario:
No one's really sure what effect Prop. 8 would have on existing same-sex marriages.
But, if it passes and these marriages get annulled, would those folks qualify for refugee status in Canada?
(Of course the whole question could be rendered moot if the Conservatives gain a majority in the upcoming election.)

1. First of all, the existing marriages won't be annulled...

...if Prop 8 passes, which it won't, not if the election runs cleanly -- and by that I mean no election fraud on the part of conservatives/republicans/religious zealots (but don't put it past them to try to fraudulently influence the results of the prop 8 vote -- they've proven many times over they are capable of such criminality.)

California's AG Jerry Brown has already said that, should prop 8 pass, it will have no legal effect on the SS couples who have already married. So the question of "refugee status" granted by Canada is moot.

2. It won't pass, they won't be annulled, so don't talk about it.

Okay, fine.
If I want to engage in theoretical speculation, I'll stick to trivia.
