It's male homosexuality they rail against
---

I like to point out to anti-gay knuckleheads that they are not against homosexuality per se...I point out that they are "sexists".

99% of all my encounters with these bigots revolves around them acting disgusted with men yet turned on by the idea of good looking women going at it.

That is when I point out to them that they are sexists and not against homosexuality.
They scratch their heads.
Too deep I guess.

2. The objection always seems to be male homosexual sex that's the problem.

3. Of course, 2 women getting it on are HOT and 2 men? ewwwww.

I know too many people who would agree with that and argh. I don't understand people sometimes.

I like your pointing out that this is sexism, not anti-homosexuality. Though the qualifier is "good looking women", so not sure what it would be (musing here). Misogynist as well as sexist?

4. does seem to be illogical because....

for a guy... two women together means there's a darn good chance they aren't interested in you. Two more women out of your dating pool. Thus a bad thing.

Two guys together means two less men competing for the women. Thus a good thing for the straight male.

But one (two women together) is off the scale hot. But apply the same sex attraction to men and it an off the scale revolting (to some men).

I do know plenty of open minded straight guy.

5. In my experience,
most straight guys are cool about it as long as you are talking to them alone. They just feel they have to make a show of being disgusted by it around other guys.

Let's face it, men will do a knot-hole.

6. My theory
(as a straight female with a lot of gay male friends) -- most straight men are used to being the aggressor. Women understand this, so we learn, very early in life, how to fend off unwanted advances. But nobody teaches men how to do that. I think that many straight guys are terrified that they won't know how to handle the situation.

Straight women, in general, aren't afraid of lesbians. We know how to say no.

7. Is that really the case?
As I'm not a lesbian I can't comment from personal experience - but my impression is that there are plenty of bigots who get turned-on by porn or fantasies involving two women, but who hate the notion that they might actually be genuine lesbians. The 2-woman porn is still male orientated, as they have sex with each other for the purpose of pleasing a man watching - rather than for the purpose of having sex with each other.

In both cases homosexuals threaten the macho image - in many ways lesbianism even more so, because it posits women who are in no sense dependent on men.

8. not always. while gay males take a lot of bashing so do butch lesbians
lisa and i routinely get bashed on subways etc because we are out. i didnt really have this problem with another femme but thats because two femmes are lower visibility than a femme-butch.

i think a lot of straight males think that i should belong to them and not to a butch girl.

it can be argued that this is sexism and i think its a valid argument, i just wanted to let you know its not that out lesbians live in a homophobe free world. or a world where they are not afraid of being bashed.

10. I never thought of that before!
Is it that straight guys think the butch lesbian has somehow "stolen" the femme from them and they need to "save" her from the bad lesbian? There are some really twisted people out there! Another thing that has always fascinated me is that most straight women seem to love gay men, but are indifferent to lesbians. I don't understand the whole "hag" mentality sometimes. Oh well.... and a pox on those people who have bashed you!

9. That's only one side of homophobia.
The 'eww gross' reaction is stronger with two guys usually, but the ones who truly hate and discriminate will go for both pretty equally.
