Pastor Offers Counter Message to Dobson’s ‘Love Won Out’ Events
Pastor Offers Counter Message to Dobson’s ‘Love Won Out’ Events

Last weekend in Boston, Rev. Jeff Miner held an event aimed at re-examining what the Bible really says about homosexuals. The event, part of a growing movement among Christian communities to reveal that homosexuality is not the cardinal sin the religious right has tagged it as, was highlighted in this weekends Boston Globe.

Miner’s event was inspired by one of Focus on the Family’s “Love Won Out” events that took place in Boston last year.

The issue is gaining traction at a time when ex-gay or reparative therapy — something that has been condemned by virtually all major mental health organizations — is back in the news. Last Wednesday, James Dobson appeared on Larry King Live to discuss, among other things, the Haggard scandal. ThinkProgress.org has the transcript:

DOBSON: I talked to him the day that the news broke and I have not talked to him since then.

KING: Was he sad that day?

DOBSON: Oh, of course. I mean you can imagine he was shocked, he was numb, he even lied about it. There’s a video of him saying that none of these things are true, but they were true or a least some of them were

KING: When you say, Doctor, when you say “restoration” you mean restore him from being gay to not gay or what do you mean?

DOBSON: Yeah, probably that, too.

What a nut.
