Massive Fraud Alleged In Mass. Anti-Gay Amendment Papers

An LGBT civil rights group says it has discovered more than 2,000 cases where names were forged or people misled into signing petitions for a constitutional amendment that would stop same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.

MassEquality on Thursday called for a criminal investigation by Secretary of State William F. Galvin and Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly.

The group has been pouring over the names ever since Galvin certified the petitions and the names became public in December (story)

MassEquality said that it had not completed its search of the names and expected to find more instances of abuse.
