Ex-Gay Foe Seeks APA Presidency
An open homosexual, who is an antagonist of ex-gay ministries, is running for President of the American Psychiatric Association. There is concern that Jack Drescher could use the position as a platform from which to further persecute those who believe they can change from gay to straight.

Drescher was recently quoted as saying of the ex-gay movement, “They can mask it in the language of love all they want but it’s about revulsion and hatred of homosexuality.” Alan Chambers of Exodus International says it could mean dark days ahead if that kind of thinking heads the APA.

“I’m very concerned that our culture is being fed misinformation and that people are reacting in a way that is detrimental to our religious liberties.”

<snip>

“Today he’s equating reparative therapy and a client’s right to self determination with a quack cure for homosexuality, which is absolutely not true.”

Waaaaaaah! The "ex-gay" snake-oil sellers are worried the APA is going to expouse their sham operations! Oh dear!

2. The APA has already discredited them. This would just be icing on our cake
Imagine if Bush is impeached and Patrick Fitzgerald becomes President.

That's about how they're looking at the situation.

3. "Religious" liberties. . .
My, how the wingnuts will fight so desperately for their constitutional right to create a "religious" belief to hate. . .and then rail at the notion that they are little better than the old Rev. Jimmy Jones kool-aid cult of the 1970's.

One must wonder how someone's religious liberties insist on legislating junk science and harmful "treatments" in a desperate attempt to bring their faith to light. . .the point is that these wackos demand that gays be made human sacrifices for their "sincerely-held religious beliefs". . .meaning anything that vilifies others they can find in the Bible. Of course, these standards don't apply to themselves.

4. Yeah, because the APA is on their side as it is
"A client's right to self-determination"

These people really have that whole fuck-you-right-in-the-brain-with-words thing down, don't they?
