2. I don't think he has any intention of blaming gays
Gays don't control the government in places where Christians are subject to persecution. In fact, in many of the same places gays don't have it so great either. The pope focuses on Christians because he represents Christians, but the larger issue is the lack of respect for basic rights in many parts of the world.
