11. I have been an ally for many years. I know this sounds sappy, but I have

a gay BIL and nephew, and niece. I am appalled that my nephew's partner has been completely cut off by his family. I also feel I don't let them know often enough that I support them and love them.
They are ALL very intelligent successful people, and living happy, good lives.

years old. Have never wavered and am now seventy-five. My children and grandchildren are equally committed and we have fought the good fight where and when ever we can. We contributed and fought like hell against prop 8. When I am no longer around, I will be working hard at freezing over hell if that is what it takes. It is a fight that never ends and the younger generation understands the need more than most of the stupid generation I belong to.

As a gay man I am here of course but I have to disagree with the designation of Second Class Citizen.
It is my firmly held opinion that we are not Second Class Citizens but are in fact Third Class Citizens since all other minorities have legal protection that we do not have on the Federal level as well as not having marriage equality. No one else is excluded. but whatever out classification I am pushing for and will accept nothing less than full and total equality.

There's no reason to deny gay people the right to be free from workplace, housing or insurance discrimination. That includes the military.

There is no reason to for the law to refuse to recognize gay marriages.

There is no reason to think a kid is better off in an orphanage or a temporary foster home than he or she would be in a stable gay household.

On the other hand, there are compelling reasons to allow these rights.

Legal persecution of homosexuals in other countries is not a cultural difference, it is a crime against humanity.

I'm glad the USA is finally on board on that last point.
