A post for all the women on the board....
I just read this quote:

"I certainly think becoming a man involves becoming a woman as well."-- Author and AIDS activist Paul Monette

and I want to take a moment and thank all the lesbian, bi, trans and supportive women in this forum and in my life for making me smile, for giving me comfort and hope and for all their support.

Happy Mothers Day to all of you - whether you have children or not a part of me will always see you as a part of my mother - full of love, help and hope.

2. i have never heard that quote, but men are raised by women.... in most cases anyway....
so, i guess in some ways that may be true. but i sure would like to see a man try to do what we women do!! LOL! i know this is completely off topic and all, but....

5. I second your sentiments. Happy Mothers Day, All.
Monette's memoir, "Becoming a Man: Half a Life Story" was an excellent read.

It's not easy holding civilization together when you:

1) make less money -they pay big money to men for playing games- they pay little for education children, rehabilitating the sick, or making a business run smoothly.

2) have to work at least 2 jobs (your paying job and the non paying one-raising kids, keeping the house clean, cooking)

3) taking care of your parents in their declining years.

4)live in poverty in your declining years because you 'live longer and earn less in addition to taking time from work to take care of family'.

5) are made to feel inadequate every day because you are are too old, too fat, not pretty enough, boobs too small, boobs too big, hair the wrong colour, hair the wrong texture, wrong gender, and God forbid you get a wrinkle etc etc, you get the picture.

6) are always a convenient target. Rapist and advertisers in your youth-muggers, rapist, and society old age. And God Help You if you are a single Mom-everything is your fault. You are Society and the medias whipping girl (even though few step forward to help)

And what is you reward for all this. You're lucky if you can get a few hours of sleep. When I die and go to heaven (and yes I will because I have dealt with hell here on earth...) I have some questions I want to ask God...........

AND SHE'D BETTER HAVE A GOOD EXPLANATION!

Sincerely, thanks for the nice words. I have helped many a friend (of all kinds of persuasions) through tough times-as they have helped me

As one of the supportive women, I thank you.

I'm hoping that we will all be celebrating the overturning of Prop. 8 soon.

15. Thank you....
...from a straight, senior female who believes in Equal Rights for all.

I love my gay friends, my gay brothers and sisters. I will not stop doing what I can to see that they gain the equality to which they are entitled in every respect!

I cannot stop bigots from what they want to think in their sick little minds, but I sure as hell can work my butt of to make sure that they are not allowed to pass laws or obstruct laws such as those which allow for same-sex marriage.
