Adviser to GOP had gay wedding
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/04/10/adviser_to_gop_had_gay_wedding/

A story in yesterday's City & Region section about the reported marriage of Republican political consultant Arthur J. Finkelstein described him as an adviser to Governor Mitt Romney. Finkelstein conducted one poll for Romney in 2002 before he entered the race for governor.)

A Republican consultant known for his sharp attacks on liberal causes -- and for boosting conservative careers like that of former US senator Jesse Helms -- married his longtime male partner late last year at their home in Ipswich.

Arthur J. Finkelstein, 59, has advised Governor Mitt Romney, who opposes gay marriage, and Governor George S. Pataki of New York, who said gay marriages performed in Massachusetts would not be recognized in his state. Finkelstein played a key role in Helms's come-from-behind victory in 1990, a campaign denounced for using homophobia to win votes

2. I'm just at a loss anymore.
I'm 40 years old. I came out when I was 17 years old. I'm quite comfortable with my sexuality but if I were to ever become uncomfortable with it it would be after reading one too many articles like this one. I am really getting fed up with these gay Republican operatives working behind the scene to fuck it up for the rest of us. I'm kinda livid right now so I'm not going to say anything else. I'm afraid it will come out wrong.

3. What's amazing is how the GOP gets to have it both ways.
They play to their hard-core homophobic base, but somehow manage to include gays in their party.

4. I prefer to think that...
...it has less to do with anything amazing about the GOP and more to do with the deplorable character of the gay men who work for them. Assholes, every damned one of them.

5. I suppose I was thinking more of how they keep their base from
getting all up in arms. For instance, why isn't Gov Romney under attack from the homophobe wing of the GOP?

7. Ah, I see what you mean.

I supposed the base is willing to keep quiet about gays in their ranks just long enough for them to squeeze whatever use and benefit they can out of their gay members. Once they are no longer useful, or are suddenly "too open", then the base makes its true feelings known. It's all very psychotic. And whorish.

Hi my name is Charles Mason and I'm here to promote my book, "A Moral Life in Five Easy Steps."

Hey.....if this Arthur J. Finkelstein can be outrageously ironic and hypocritical, why can't these people?

Maybe Art will start a trend.

Bill Clinton Bashes Man Behind 'Stop Hillary' Push

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton took aim on Monday at a powerful political opponent of his wife Sen. Hillary Clinton, saying a surge of "Stop Hillary" efforts "can't stop her." Clinton called one of the leaders of the movement, New York powerbroker Arthur Finkelstein "sad," after reports over the weekend that the Republican consultant married his gay lover. "Either this guy believes his party is not serious and is totally Machiavellian in his position or there's some sort of self-loathing there," Clinton said. "I was more sad for him.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that Finkelstein, who has worked to elect strongly conservative Republican politicians, married his male partner in a civil ceremony in Massachusetts in December. The Republican Party opposes same-sex marriages. Hillary Clinton, a Democrat from New York, faces re-election next year, and many believe she will make a run for the U.S. presidency in 2008. Clinton added that he wasn't worried about the "Stop Hillary" campaign, which includes direct mail and Internet-based fund-raising efforts.

Republicans say Finkelstein, a long-time ally of New York's Republican Gov. George Pataki, is a key force behind the "Stop Her Now" anti-Clinton campaign and moving behind the scenes to help raise money. Finkelstein rarely speaks to the press. The former president said his wife has worked hard as senator, especially in strongly Republican areas in upstate and western New York. "She's been great and he can't stop her," Clinton said.

Clinton made his remarks at his New York office where he announced his foundation was donating $10 million toward treating children with AIDS in rural Africa.

11. Shut up Bill Clinton
"Either this guy believes his party is not serious and is totally Machiavellian in his position or there's some sort of self-loathing there," Clinton said. "I was more sad for him.

You were more than happy to be Machiavellian when it suited you -- including banning gay marriage and happily holding hands with the conservative Republican bigots in "protecting marriage from gays."

Your opinion on this matter means less than the shit one scrapes off his shoes after walking around on a horse farm.

9. "I thought Roy Cohn was dead already"
No wonder the guy is never seen in public and lives a hidden life - this "individual" would be crushed to see the pain and suffering he has caused against the GLBT population. And if he doesn't shed a tear for those abused, then he is not even a human being.

Just a heterosexual that fucks men on the side in my opinion.

10. This is nothing new . . .

This is nothing new . . . Arthur Finkelstein is gay. It's well-known. Allegedly, he's been in a long-standing homosexual relationship for many years. He has two adopted kids within that relationship. He resides in Ipswich, Massachusetts w/ his gay partner and with his two adopted kids.

What is *new* is that Finkelstein allegedly married his gay partner recently.

All that being said does not obviate the fact that Arthur Finkelstein is an unscrupulous hypocrite working for politicians who bash and demonize gays and/or Democrats. As such, he's scum. Pure unadulterated scum. However, this, too, is not unique in today's politics. Low-lifes, scum, and people with no character or morals, such as Finkelstein, abound in the so-called neocon political bent.
