Boyle not guilty in abortion protest incident

I got into (I was threatened with arrest if I didn't leave the area they were in) it with the protesters about 1/2 hour later. I 'd know about the Boyle incident until I got home.

Boyle not guilty in abortion protest incident
BY JUDITH NYGREN
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Even though a judge described the Douglas County commissioner as being on "thin ice" legally, Mike Boyle prevailed today in arguing that he didn’t obstruct traffic by blocking an abortion protestor’s truck last fall.

Boyle was found innocent of the misdemeanor traffic offense after asserting that drivers could use the turn lane to get around his Honda and the anti-abortion truck it blocked outside the new Omaha headquarters of Barack Obama, then still a candidate for U.S. president.

Boyle told Douglas County Judge Craig McDermott that he never would have pulled in front of the truck on Sept. 10 if other drivers were prevented from traveling north on 76th Street between West Dodge Road and Cass Street. But vehicles already were using the turn lane to get around the truck, he said.

The truck stopped repeatedly as it tried to draw attention to the larger-than-life pictures of aborted fetuses that covered it, Boyle said. When he saw a mother covering the eyes of her child as they made their way to the opening of the Obama office, he said he decided enough was enough.

He and his wife, Anne, have trained people on the proper ways to protest abortion, Boyle said. The truck and its placards went beyond the community’s standard’s of proper protest, he said.

3. They are Irish Catholic

I have been a volunteer escort at clinics in the past. I've also been to many Planned Parenthood rallies etc... I've never noticed either of the Boyles at any protest. They both hold public office. They are Democrats. I have nothing bad to say about them.

5. Steve, is there anything you can't do!
 Thank you for your service as a clinic escort.

I'm glad to know you have nothing bad to say about them. AFAIC, that means there's simply nothing bad to say about their public behavior.

4. To me it says loads that someone on the anti-choice side
has finally realized how counter productive some actions are and are doing something about it.

6. Agreed
With opposite numbers such as these, perhaps understanding can follow. I'd like to learn more about these folks.
