Pacman out as 2007 shooting surfaces

The June 2007 shooting occurred outside a suburban Atlanta strip club. One of the shooting victims told "Outside the Lines" that he had a dispute with Jones inside the strip club and that not long after he and the two others left the club, a hail of bullets struck their car. The NFL knew about that incident, but charges were never brought against anyone because the victims did not see the shooter.

With a two-line press release Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys ended their relationship with cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones. The laughter you're hearing is coming from the Tennessee Titans' practice facility, where they're preparing for a divisional playoff game against the Ravens.

This transaction won't be made official until Feb. 9 because of league rules. ESPN's Ed Werder is reporting that Jones' release was prompted by the club finding out about an upcoming "Outside the Lines" report that provides details on new allegations against the player during his time with the Titans. The NFL apparently knew about the allegations, which occurred two months after Jones was suspended for a year by the league, but charges were never brought against Jones.

Of course, the Cowboys should've cut their losses with Pacman following his Oct. 7 fight with a member of his own security detail in a posh hotel bathroom. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones brought Pacman back into the locker room after he served a six-game suspension. Jerry has maintained that team chemistry is overrated, and that's why he looked the other way while Pacman, Tank Johnson and T.O. were busy dividing his locker room.

According to a high-ranking club source, some members of the defense were stunned when Pacman leapfrogged rookie Mike Jenkins in his first game back after the suspension against the Steelers in December. He was injured in that game after muffing a punt.

After his team's embarrassing 44-6 loss to the Eagles, head coach Wade Phillips indicated there might be some personnel changes. But the only reason this news seems significant is because Pacman is such a controversial figure. He didn't do enough on the field to make up for all the negative attention he brought the team. It's too bad it took a report on a shooting incident that took place in July 2007 to finally make Jerry Jones do something.

The Cowboys' home for wayward players will also lose another resident when Johnson hits the free-agent market. Johnson was nothing more than a loud-mouthed backup, and he joined T.O. in constantly complaining behind the scenes

3. No Barry isn't teh God ... he's the guy who is hated for not
being charged with violating a single MLB rule, and for not being convicted of a single crime.

If Barry Bonds or Michael Vick were to be announced over a PA system, they'd probably receive the same reaction -- perhaps Bonds getting booed more -- even though what Vick did is a thousand times worse than what Bonds is accused of doing.

How fucked up is that?

A serious question I may have asked you before (early stage dementia) how does Heath Shuler fare in the annals of Volunteer land? Has history been kind to him? Do you all love him as much as you love Clint Stoerner? I always thought he (Shuler) was a damn fine college quarterback.

41. Yeah
in the late 90's. I think Jones just signed him up due to the Hog connection. I still think he's working for the Cowboys in some capacity. He was the Arkansas quarterback who fumbled in the ball against Tennessee (at Tennessee) in 98 late in the game with the Hogs holding on to a slight lead and the clock running out. UT recovered the fumble, scored and won the game and the national championship that year. Cboy knows Stoerner was UT's MVP that year. They needed a Hog to win the championship.

8. As far as Pac-Man Jones goes, the Cowboys lost a fourth round
draft choice. The Titans were scheduled to receive a 6th round pick, but when he got suspended, the Cowboys didn't lose that but then receieved from Tennessee a fifth round draft choice.

They brought someone in who they thought could plug a hole, with the injuries they had in the secondary.

Don't make me call trumad.

but I do feel like Bonds targeted as being more evil than a lot of these athletes who are involved with dog fighting and gun play.

This is your complex in full gear. You've taken it upon yourself to be his protector, to take the "tortures" of our slings and arrows, to protect his good name from the legions of Barry haters out there. If that isn't a martyr I don't know what is.

And it's bullshit on top of that. Vick has been completely excoriated in every corner of the sports world and beyond in ways that Bonds has never even approached. Vick is serving time for his actions (not enough, mind you). Vick is in a tiny gray room, eating lousy food and sleeping on lousy beds. Bonds is probably on yacht right now. He's fine. Trying to equate what Bonds is dealing with with what Vick is dealing with is laughable on it's face. Spend some time in jail and get back to us.

Bonds only proven offense, is that he's not nice to reporters.

Lock him up!

If being mean to reporters were the only charges he's facing people would be cheering him on. No, and this is something I've never once seen you address in your Bonds love-ins, the reason so many are against him is because he hold baseball's single greatest record, and there's a very real cloud of suspicion over him. THAT'S what pisses people off. You think if he held the record for most walks anyone would even give a shit what he did off the field? It could be Casper the Friendly Ghost holding the HR record, and if his head was all popping with veins and he bulked up way past the age when ghosts bulk up then hey, we'd be all over his sheet-ridden ass too.

He's been annihilated right here, and on nearly every sports forum i've been to. You have to go long and far to find someone who doesn't think he's a useless piece of work.

When he got in the shooting thing in Vegas, people here creamed him! And rightly so.

When he beat up his own bodyguard (and according to rumor, sucker-punched him), people here creamed him!

When he got reinstated, there were lots of folks here who were quite upset. (I was one of them.)

It's just ain't so that people here don't criticize him. Just tain't so.

52. I don't understand why a baseball player can't achieve the
same build as a football player.

Are baseball players genetically inferior or something?

57. Since Barry hasn't been convicted of anything, I try to figure
out how he can be a muscular as he is.

Then I think of weight training, personal trainers, superior diet, protein shakes, etc., ... all of the methods football players gain bulk if one is to believe they're not all on steroids.

I don't understand why you can't allow yourself to view that as plausable -- that Barry can do this on his own because he wanted to beat Aaron .. unlesss he just refuse to open your mind and think.

All you want to do is convict Barry before he's even appeared in court, which is dumb.

59. he went from very very thin
to very very bulky. I'm sorry but the only way someone does that is with "help"--see Mark Mcgwire-or perhaps you think he's innocent of steroid use as well.
If you look at most of the big bulky football players they have the bone structure that makes their large size natural.
Bonds does not have the natural bone structure for that..

60. Sue, what are your credentials to so boldy dismiss
Bonds' fitness program?

Are you some sort of nutrition expert to put yourself on record, proclaiming that the ONLY WAY someone can go from being very thin to ripped is through "help"?!

I think you know a lot about sports, but no offense...

I don't think you know shite about fitness training.

"They have the bone structure that makes their large size natural"? WHAT?!

There are plenty of high school QB's whove come out, and gained bulk.

And I don't think thee reason is because they have big bone structure.

TIM TEBOW

Is Tim big boned or something?

63. Ah but I do know something about biology and physiology...
And weight training while does bulk up the body some, DOES NOT cause the huge changes in anatomy that Mr. Bonds has shown. And I've told you before, there is a clear puffy appearance to his face that speaks of long term steroid use..Its called the moon face. I would bet people who are on steroids for medical reasons would tell you the same thing (I have a relative on steroids, I've watched the physical changes caused by them..they are very similar)

66. Ok, what do YOU know about weight lifting and building muscle mass?
I've lived with bodybuilders (one came in 2nd on ESPN one day even). They don't add mass AT THAT AGE. Your comparison to Tebow is dumb, because at his age it's very easy to do. Bonds did it in his mid to late 30's for fuck's sake.

I don't think you know shite about fitness training.

And *I don't think you know shite about building muscle mass, and how the difficulty in doing so get more and more severe as you age. So, tell us YOUR experience and expertise in the field then, because your reply here is asinine. At 20 even I bulked up to play hockey. At 41 there's no more bulking up...yet Big Head Barry just keeps growing right through his late 30's. Amazing, that.

And we won't even bring up the fucking shrunken testicles. Your support for Bonds is sad, not only because you ignore the bloody obvious (a trait I see in repubs, not smart people), but even more so because Bonds wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. You and love stricken heart deserve better.

In his mid-30's.

Notice Cboy refuses to answer my "did Bond's take steroids" question?

67. no he actually looks okay
and as forkboy told you, Bonds is too old to look that way.
I can tell which football players are probably on steroids too, you really only have to look at his face.
BTW, the only reason ons hat size changes, as bonds did is because of the swelling that steroids cause in the face. Tebow does not have a inch of swelling on his face..Barry on the other hand..Thats not fat either. Thats fluid retention.

74. Tale of the tape
Yet without question the smoking gun hidden in the text is the supposed testimony of San Francisco Giants equipment manager Mike Murphy, who "could" have told the grand jury that Bonds's shirt size went from 42 to 52 in his now 15 years with the team, his hat size went from 7 1/8 to 7 1/4 ("even though he had taken to shaving his head"), and most damning of all his shoe size went from 10 1/2 to 13.

him with breaking a single rule!!

Why in the world would I accuse him before a decision comes down.

People just hate him and want him to lost his home run crown and go to prison.

It's a rotten position to take.
