Requiem for the Mets.....
First let me say that I really don't care about New York teams - as a Michigander who lived in the New York area for four years, I still resent being forced to watch the Giants and Jets every Sunday because one team would play the early game and the other the late game with all others blacked out.
That said, I developed something of an attachment to the Metropolitans, if for no other reason - they're not the Yankees. Being a Tigers fan, it's my obligation to hate the Yankees, because they're in the AL and because they're the Yankees. (and I lived there during the first round of the Torre/Jeter championship era - ugh!)
But there's a soft spot in my heart for the Mets, who were sad sacks in the mid-90s. The tickets at the big ugly stadium in the LGA flight path were easier to get, and the whole vibe at Shea was a lot more relaxed than in the Bronx.
So Mets fans, understand that I share your sadness today. Sorta.

1. Thanks for the sentiment, Marmar...I got to love the Metropolitans when...
my family moved to Norfolk, so I got to know them as AAA players and, later, worked at the ballpark. David Wright is a Norfolk homeboy. I'm sorry for him.

As a kid I liked the Tigers, a LOT. Norm Cash's chaw, Horton, Gates Brown, Rodriguiez/Brinkman/Coleman, and later, Howard - former Senators - and Mickey Lolich. Great team.

2. My thoughts are with you Mets fans...it's a tough day...
...don't watch ESPN...I swear the segment on the season-ending collapse was 30 minutes long!

3. Why oh why...
do some people seem to take great joy in seeing another Mets demise?

I'm still in sorrow - oh well. Now I can focus all of my attention on the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!
