Two solid weeks of Super Bowl hype: Somebody please fly to Florida and shoot me.
Start counting the human interest stories on Rex Grossman---you know, the kind that say he was to small to play but boy did he show em.

Start counting how many times you see Archie Manning and his wife discuss their mixed spawn...you know...the good one (101 QB rating)and the bad one (73.2 QB rating).

And of course the African American angle that the white-bred MSM will talk of as if it's some kind of divine miracle that a couple of black guys (Smith and Dungy) beat a couple of white guys (Belichick and Payton) to get to the big show.

Expect trailers for upcoming SB commercials--- trailers for the bikini bowl--- trailers for the Bud Bowl---more spam from on-line gambling joints who know the lines.... Stupid political bets between Barack Obama (Chicago hot dogs) and Dan Quayle (does Indiana have anything to bet?)

A couple of repeats of the Prince flick, Purple Rain....Repeated repeats of Janets nipple--- Maybe a mini-riot before the game in Miami... Hell--- maybe a February hurricane-- A couple of Paris Hilton incidents-- a lost side-kick or something.

Ugg ugg and double ugg!

1. Damn, I couldn't have summed up my feelings any better.

This is why I love this site.

Also, for the love of gawd, please bring back the 'one week' schedule. This waiting for two weeks is pathetic. It will be an endless, nauseating attack of our senses - I don't want any part of it. Just play the damn game already.

2. Well, the late Hunter S. Thompson summed up the Super Bowl hype
rather nicely, back in 1973, in an article for Rolling Stone:

:evilfrown:

(Rolling Stone #128, February 15, 1973)

"For eight long and degrading days I had skulked around Houston with all the other professionals, doing our jobs--which was actually to do nothing at all except drink all the free booze we could pour into our bodies, courtesy of the National Football League, and listen to an endless barrage of some of the lamest and silliest swill ever uttered by man or beast..."
