Roger Clemens and Steroids
Who here believes Roger Clemens actually used steroids? Jose Canseco has been pretty much on the money in detailing who used steroids. So could he be right on Clemens?

1. How old is he early/middle 40's
and the last few years his pitching ability hasn't went down that bad with age has it? Not normal is all I can say!

3. He's also got the ornery temprament [sp?] of a user.
And, yes, it's weird he's still throwing heat the way he is.

2. He also
took the first few months of the season off, allegedly as a "will I return or won't I" dance.

My HO is that the hiatus was more about allowing the substances he had been taking wash out of his system so that they wouldn't be detectable under the new drug testing instituted by MLB.

He's a great pitcher, one of the best ever, but nobody ever asks him about steroid use. And if he WAS on them, and now he's not, well, he hasn't lost anything off that sinker.

5. No. I don't think Clemens is a steroid user
I just think Clemens is one of the top 10 pitchers ever. Canseco is a POS by the way. He went down, so he wants to take MLB down with him.

6. He IS one of the greatest pitchers ever...
and Bonds could have gone to the HoF on his Pittsburgh numbers.

But Clemens build and longevity are suspicious.

And throwing the bat fracture at Piazza and shouting at him? Any other pitcher would have been ejected.

7. Ever hear of Nolan Ryan?
He was throwing heat well into his 40's, kept himself in great shape and I even saw his hand meet Robin Ventura's head once near the end of Ryan's career. Some guys are just great. And as far as the bat at Piazza, so what? Piazza was saying something to him, it was the World Series, and Clemens is one of the most competitive people alive. I am not condoning it, I'm just pointing out facts.

12. Ryan's build did not look unusual.
I don't know if Clemens did 'roids. But I can see why someone would be suspicious.

10. "But Clemens build and longevity are suspicious."
That build, the quasi-fatguy/bullnecked pitcher is everywhere. See: Eric Gagne, formerly a "piece of crap" in J.Rome speak, then he got quasi-fat and was great. Now he's a disabled-list Louie.

Take a look around the league at all the quasi-fat pitchers out there. I don't see any Mickey Lolich's (true fat)or Terry Forster's (big fat tub of goo--Letterman) out there.

Not many Jim Palmer's either..

Pitchers have been caught (no big stars of course) at 50% of Pro players. 50% of the major league pitchers out there are Quasi-fat.

You'll see.

8. I doubt it.
Pitch movement would not be advanced with steriod use, only velocity.

I got Roger juices.

9. It's possible....
but NOBODY has offered definitive proof.

I see no reason to care about it until someone does.

11. don't you kinda assume
that everyone did in the 90's? you were a bit of an idiot if you didn't, given the immense gains possible and the lax enforcement of rules.
